Cold Calculation: JoCo Golden Ghetto Confronts Growing Hobo Population

A reminder that local homeless are moving to the suburbs as well and so many enclaves aren't equipped to handle the influx now that street cams prevent suburban law enforcement from dropping them off in KC proper like the old days . . . Take a look:

Homeless in Johnson County

With cold weather setting in, and winter fast approaching, advocates for Johnson County's homeless population are scrambling to reconstitute an effort that has provided overnight shelter for the past four years. The latest setback came last week, when the city of Lenexa rejected a proposal to house approximately 40 people nightly from December through March in Shawnee Mission Unitarian Universalist Church (SMUUC) at 9400 Pflumm Road.

  1. Free bus tickets to Florida are cheaper than shelters.

I once was sad because I had no shoes, then I saw a woman with no clothes.

  3. Plan B for Lenexa, removing all park benches so poor cannot sleep "somewhat" comfortably.

    Shame on city council.

  4. Lenexa and Olathe still shittin on the poor people who work for them. Feel better?

  5. On the bright side, suburban dogooder housewives won't have to drive as far to feed the bums. That will significantly cut back on the CO2 emissions from their SUVs, so they can save the world while they're helping the homeless. A twofer!

  6. Sad to see these cities criminalize homelessness. None of the local political heads want to admit that this problem exist in their cities. Olathe last year shut down without any help for a person who houses them when it gets real cold out. As most are uneducated as to homelessness, and don't understand the specifics of it and what needs to be done.

  7. 8 a.m. has it correct, be like Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York in the recent article in which it was discovered New York is sending their homeless not only to California but other cities in the west even Honolulu Hawaii. This is being paid for by tax on the landlords, in some cases rent is even being paid for the homeless in other cities. Will not list the link because that's stupid, just look it up. Be like Ronald Reagan trust, but verify

  8. Remember some are homeless by choice so why should tax dollars be wasted on them? Same as some are on disability because they are too lazy to work.

  9. ^^Right, and also remember all old people are hateful, ignorant bastards too. I mean most humans, not you though(and for that matter 90% of the retards on here) have compassion for the less fortunate. I mean it's in the bible should you read that. Why don't you do everyone a favor and die off already? Clearly you wouldn't be missed by anyone and serve no purpose here.

  10. Its not funny. It can happen to you. I was illegally locked out of my beautiful, upper bracket, completely paid off Overland Park home, (free and clean title, no liens, no taxes owed) that I had lived in for over 40 years, when US Bank the trustee of my retirement plan "thought" they were also the trustee of my house too. They locked me out and planned on selling it! I never had a loan with US Bank, they were only in charge of my retirement funds. I didn't even get a letter from them - just locked out!

  12. In the U.S.There are millions of people that are unemployeable. And if they are working. They can't afford the rent or they were for closed on .There are homeless people living in there Cars or Vans or a R.V.NO Mad,There will be increased Layoffs. People are in Debt. There will come a time they stop Spending .And swiping the credit cards. And borrowing This will get much worse. And it will take decades for the economy to recover.

  13. Anytime I read stuff like this I wonder what sort of shelter could have been built with a fraction of the money places like COR spent on their stained glass window or “campus.” Even if a city prohibits a shelter, let churches and other charities fund a bus to idle in an abandoned parking lot overnight to keep the homeless from freezing to death.
