Supporters Of Both MLK Blvd And/Or The Paseo HATE Kansas City Bike Lane Plan

The urban core might not be able to agree on much BUT neighborhood opposition to this scheme is nearly universal.

Take a look:

KC considers adding 19 miles of bike lanes on MLK Boulevard

KMBC 9'S BRIAN JOHNSON IS LIVE AT CITY HALL WITH THE DEBATE BETWEEN COST AND SAFETY. BRIAN: THE CITY IS THINKING OF ADDING 19 MILES OF BIKE LANES DOWN MARTIN LUTHER KING BOULEVARD. REBUILDING JUST TWO BLOCKS WILL COST $9.5 MILLION. WHILE SOME HAVE CONCERNS, OTHERS FEEL IT'S A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

Comments

  1. Building two blocks will cost 9.5 million?
    Show us the numbers.

  2. Or you could do nothing a retain a suck-ass intersection at Paseo/Independence ave.

BTW....9.5 million is for the intersection reconstruction.....a bike lane is a small part of that. Completely misleading.

  3. I have never seen a bicyclist on The Paseo. If they add a bike lane I will never see a bicyclist on The Paseo.

    1. There are plenty of us that commute to and from work via Paseo! Overall, there is not a ton of traffic on Paseo/MLK so this shouldn't cause congestion, and it will encourage people to actually drive the speed limit on this road.

  4. Who in their right mind would ride a bicycle on The Paseo? You are setting yourself up to be bikejacked.

  5. ^^Or be moving target practice.

  6. Eric Bunch would ride his bike on the Paseo, after he stopped at a Parklet". Good to see he is doing the heavy lifting at City Hall, addressing crime, affordable housing, debt, and infrastructure. Lightweight!

Obviously Eric "Spandex" Bunch and the rest of the council have no idea what is important to the tax payers. Fix the failing infrastructure.

  8. You know what they call a white cyclist on MLK Boulevard ?

    A pedestrian.
