A massive tower of glass and steel will overshadow pedestrians and most of the history of this district.
According to the good people at Block Real Estate Services . . .
"The newest Class-A office building on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri."
And now a glimpse at some of the promo . . .
You decide . . .
I'm okay with this. The Plaza was destroyed decades ago. At this point we should be happy for people spending money to build things in KCMO
ReplyDeleteDon't most buildings "overshadow pedestrians"?
ReplyDeleteSheesh.
How much will the taxpayers have to pony up?

ReplyDeleteThe project was approved for its final incentive, a $21 million revenue bond that exempts sales tax on construction materials, from the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority (PIEA). It previously won approval for a 20-year property tax abatement. APR 21, 2017
Looks kind of stupid but we will get used to it. LOL a twenty year tax abatement- no wonder the assessor is jacking up homes and businesses to find the money being forgone by abatements like this.

Thank goodness for incentives. I can't conceive how anything could be built in such a horrendously blighted area without them.
ReplyDeleteThe gangsta' kids have already turned the Plaaazahh int a dump.
ReplyDeleteThe gangsta kids will be shooting at the glass! Hahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to Architecture and Urban Planning School I learned about “scale.” The building in that picture above by Block Real Estate is grossly out of scale. Blame Ken Block for his part in destroying the Plaza. Kathryn Shields too for not protesting this and protecting the Plaza from this oversized development. Blame Sly and Troy Schulte for ramming the street car route to the Plaza. Just what we need is a jettison drop off point for all the darkies to migrate to with their endless dysfunction and ruin what was a crown jewel.
ReplyDeleteThose question marks above were supposed to be a series of thoughtfully made black colored thumbs pointing downward.
