A sign of times down by the river and an opportunity for our AWESOME TKC BLOG COMMUNITY to have a bit of fun and stop taking the local "news" so seriously.
To wit . . .
TKC CAPTION CONTEST!!!
NAME THIS EPIC KANSAS CITY SINKHOLE FILLED WITH SEWAGE & DANGER!!!
First a bit of background . . .
Giant KCMO sinkhole opens near Isle of Capri Casino
Deets:
A large sinkhole opened under a washed-out road Thursday afternoon near the Isle of Capri Casino.
The gaping sinkhole was located near Shelley Avenue and Guinotte Avenue, just east of Interstate 35 and a few blocks south of the train tracks that run parallel to East Front Street.
KCFD closed off traffic earlier in the week but this sign of the times has become worse and is visible from high above . . .
It's not all fun and games regarding this cowtown pit of despair:
Fox4: Businesses evacuated, streets shut down due to massive sinkhole near East Bottoms
KCTV5: Businesses were evacuated in northern Kansas City on Thursday evening due to a gas link and sinkhole.
Nevertheless . . .
DO YOUR WORST: GIVE KANSAS CITY'S GREATEST POTHOLE A NAME!!!
You decide . . .
I don't know about a name but I'm pretty sure this is where they're going to keep all of the ballots for the next election.

DeleteNot funny, this is a dangerous situation and I'm just glad no one was hurt. That is why this election is important, we need to vote for the candidate who will repair our streets and listen to community concerns.
DeleteWe don’t have a candidate running who will do that. Our candidates are a stupid lesbian and an affirmative action negro.
DeleteThought the Mayor was going to fix our streets?
ReplyDeleteThe Money Pit!
ReplyDeleteIf memory serves, that was the location of all the KCMO pension money.
ReplyDeleteYou mean it's really just a big empty hole?

ReplyDeleteThe river don't want to stay where it is. Build levees and it gets pissed off and will scour out underneath. Dropping thousands of tons of rock ballast may help for a while.
ReplyDelete"These rocks were laid down during the late Pennsylvanian Period, approximately 300 million years ago. At this time, North America was located astride the equator and the midcontinent region experienced a mild, tropical climate. The fossil-rich limestone and shale beds attest to the proffusion of marine life that inhabited the shallow inland sea."

ReplyDeleteActually, think about it this way. This might be a sign that Kansas City is making progress. Before, these streets lingered for years and nothing ever happened because there was no traffic. NOW, there are people moving back and forth and business so the infrastructure is used more. It's unfortunate when it breaks but that means a fix is on the way and we see the city keep growing.
ReplyDelete"that means a fix is on the way and we see the city keep growing"
ReplyDeleteYeah, we sure wanna keep the city growing don't we. Tell me why we need more people in killa shitty.
