The rising homicide count, increased flooding, a property crime spike and crumbling local infrastructure has Kansas City voters angry, frustrated and desperate for change from a status quo that seems to champion the rights of developers, power players and social justice activists over homeowners.
Nevertheless, this pause to share the love is worthwhile if only to realize that anger rarely leads to election victory and instead many locals simply want to share happy thoughts and adorable sentiments amid Springtime 2019.

Can only agree with one part of this post. Negativity is a tough sell. I imagine this post might get pissed off comments but those don't represent that mainstream, people don't want to vote for a person they don't like. Nasty, angry people don't win popularity contests. People will write their own story in their head to make a candidate seem nicer rather than acknowledge public nastiness. That's why so much criticism of public figures is personal and revolves around their appearance. Critics always want to break down those inhibitions and give people license to express their nastier emotions. We normally don't see a lot of that in KC elections but this time it's pretty obvious what's going on.

ReplyDeleteCrime, roads, snow removal, and sewers gave way to many years of deferred maintenance. Instead, KC got a New Jazz board of directors, a new YMCA in 18th and Vine, Two City funded grocery stores within 4 blocks of each other, and of course 18th and Vine.
