Postscript to recent flooding and a note from our animal lover friends . . . Here's the word and a local avert double down:
PETA: 'STOP EATING MEAT' ADS HONOR DROWNED CALVES
Billboard Urging Cow-Eaters to Take Responsibility for Preventable Deaths Is Now Up in Kansas City
Kansas City, Mo. — In the wake of the deaths of approximately 1 million calves who were killed in the flooding across the Midwest, PETA is running two "Go Vegan!" billboards in Kansas City this month featuring a photograph of a cow stranded in deep water alongside the words "Stop Eating Meat! They Die for Your Cruel and Dirty Habit."
The billboard has been placed on U.S. Route 71 at E. 63rd Street, near Blenheim Square–Research Hospital, and another will go up this week on I-70 at E. Truman Road, near a Wendy's and Belfonte Ice Cream & Dairy Foods Co.
If this message of compassion inspires just one person to leave cows off their plate, then they won't add to the millions of animals who experience a terrifying death every year, whether in a slaughterhouse or in a natural disaster," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "PETA's billboard urges meat-eaters to listen to the flood of reasons why they should change their ways and embrace compassionate vegan eating."
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that "animals are not ours to eat"—opposes speciesism, which is a human-supremacist worldview. The group points out that, had these calves survived the flooding, they would have eventually faced a terrifying trip to the slaughterhouse, where workers would have shot them in the head with a captive-bolt gun, hung them up by one leg, and cut their throat—likely while they were still conscious and able to feel pain.
In addition to each sparing the lives of nearly 200 animals every year, people who go vegan reduce their risk of suffering from heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and numerous other health concerns.

You decide . . .
You'll see a lot of people bristle at this kind of advertising and talk bad about PETA but look at the health conditions of those same folks who talk about how great meat tastes and the early onset of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and obesity is quite obvious.
ReplyDeleteI may not agree with everything PETA says or does but KC obviously scarfs down way too much beef. A walk around the block reveals as much.
MORE HAM!
ReplyDeletePETA euthanizes thousands of healthy animals a year.
ReplyDeleteMy body my choice.. it's none of anyone's damn business what I ingest into my body! Government needs to stay out of the business of my body..protect my rights!!
ReplyDeleteJolie eats a lot of fat chicks
ReplyDeleteJolie likes a good furburger.
DeletePETA is an animal rights group and should not be confused with being an animal welfare group. Their mission is to stop all use of animals. This includes fluffy your family dog as a companion animal. They believe all animals should be completely left alone by humans. I'm not sure I can support 100% this type of mission.
ReplyDelete2:11 is right. You don't have to tell the neighbors that you're eating steak, tonight (that really used to be a thing.) We can tell by looking at you that you eat too much steak.
ReplyDeleteAlso, raising cows for slaughter is a waste of land that could have been used to grow food instead of death.
If the cattle rancher kills his dog, he's arrested & charged with animal cruelty. But, the cow has as much right to live as the dog does.
Eating meat is yet another unsustainable path. Eventually, we will have to wise up.
P.E.T.A = People Eating Tasty Animals
ReplyDeleteEat more pussy.
Conserve water--Shower with a friend
Save a tree--eat a beaver
STOP EATING MEAT!
ReplyDeleteThey die for your cruel and dirty habit.
...but killing unborn babies is just fine.
...and raising fruits and vegetables for slaughter is "healthy eating."
...and the oil industry which provides fuel to transport PETA protesters is a "clean" industry.
...and the coffee and tea that vegans consume doesn't contribute to deforestation.
...and the insulin which kept millions of diabetics alive never came from cows.
What's PETA'S STAND ON ABORTION?
ReplyDeleteWe now have signs in MO urging women to go to Illinois to get their abortion.
Not PETA'S fault, and no connection. Just seems strange billboard usage.
Don't eat cows! Come on lets kill some babies!
I'll take a 44oz Porterhouse, medium-rare.... Oh,and don't forget the loaded tater.... Tomorrow I'll be in for the 50oz Prime Rib.
ReplyDeleteFuck Off PETA!!!!!
If you won't beat/eat your meat, pass it over!!
Jesus Byron you full blown Socialist Nazi. Where do you dream up this shit you write? Thousands upon thousands of acres of ground every year sit idle with nothing planted on it and many millions more acres is under CRP payments to not grow anything on it. Cows are the least of this world's problems but nut case communists like you are. Many more products come from cows besides meat. And meat eaten in moderation is better for you that all the frozen custard stands and QuikTrip soda fountains will ever be for you. Also when I drive down into the country where cows are raised how come the air smells so much sweeter and clean?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to eat meat that's fine people. Eat all the veggies you want because I will never stop you from doing so. On the flip side, shut your pieholes over what I want to eat.
Remember that grass in your front yard is a living thing as well but you idiots think you need to poison all the water tables with the crap you pour on it every year to make it grow. Then you attack it with a mower probably burning fossil fuels polluting the air and sound levels cutting down that "living" green grass.
How about all you green loving veggie eating assholes who have fireplaces and firepits in your backyards where you burn wood from what was a good looking green tree you had someone cut down so you could pollute the air with your wood smoke and upsetting the elimination of odors and pollutant gases nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and bark.CO2 gases while you sit around sipping wine and bitching because I eat a steak.
Well guess what, you meat haters can all kiss my rosy rednec ass.
^^No you won't fatso, as you are currently 625 lbs, your fat-ass can never leave the house! Keep on eating tubby you don't have much time left!
ReplyDeleteGayzers are the most frequent "meat eaters"! So, why so bigly triggered?! Get your big mouth back on your buttboi's tube steak!
DeleteThe truth is usually in the middle.
ReplyDeleteThese slaughter houses are brutal and the shit that goes on there is tough to look at in my opinion.
That said, most of us, are not going to stop eating hamburgers.
I am cognitively dissonant here...
^^Who gives a shit what you think???
ReplyDeleteThere is always two sides to every story and in this case there are two very clear ones. Neither side is better than the other. It's all about personal taste and want. I like a little of both worlds myself. 2:57 brings up a good point as in I guess it depends on what you define as living. A plant is a living thing no matter how you look at it.
ReplyDeleteWhat many don't understand is that the growing of a lot of crops adds many things back to the ground and water tables that was not meant to be there. And there is very little vegetables produced that is really truly organic. So both sides of the argument carry plus and minus parts to them. But I don't have any use for PETA myself, just way too many fanatical revolutionaries in it.
Stop aborting babies! "They Die for Your Cruel and Dirty Habit."
ReplyDeleteLately Bryon sure seems to be trying to control and push a particular narrative on TKC. He must not be having much luck in West Virginia.
ReplyDelete^^^^He doesn't post in Vagina where people know him for the flake he is.
ReplyDelete^^^^ careful there, Byron gets turned on easily!
ReplyDeleteWhen PETA stops the coyotes from eating the poor rabbits in my back yard I will stop eating beef. After all these rabbits die a cruel death just so some coyote doesn't go hungry.
ReplyDeleteWell I for one love eating meat but would readily admit a lot of us eat too much meat and it is an undeniably brutal existence for livestock what modern agriculture in America is. We could all use a little less meat in our diets I would agree. And if you eat less of it, it is more special and satisfying when you do indulge. Thanks,
ReplyDeleteRadish
Midwestern folk will eat sprouts and carrots as part of our new green deal.
ReplyDelete^^^ I’ll eat as much meat as I want radish, I eat meat three times a day and kill plenty of vegetables to go with my meat, my body fat is at 15.5%, 6’1” of lean mean fighting machine all thanks to those beautiful cows and pigs!
ReplyDeleteWhat are sprouts? Is that a soyboy thing?
ReplyDeleteIf you eat meat three times a day then that is too much. Even for breakfast every day??
ReplyDeleteFuck Donovan and Byron.
ReplyDeletepeta is the political wing of the Animal Liberation Front, a known domestic terror group that's been around longer than Al Quaeda.
Anyone supporting either group deserves a one-way trip to Gitmo.
2:59 a while back use to be this dude called Craig Glazer who always said shit like that and how he was always in better shape than any of us. Well guess what, he is dead and I am not. Probably outlive you also ya clueless hater.
ReplyDeletesilly diabetics, eating meat.
ReplyDeletesilly diabetics, eating cheese.
ReplyDeletesilly diabetics, eating fish.
ReplyDeleteByron--Cemeteries are a waste of land also.
ReplyDeletebLIEron- is a waste of perfectly good resources, young people need him to die so they can live, he’s keeping taxpayer money from them to survive
ReplyDelete5:47 Craig was in his mid sixties and died from leukemia so..... he was in better shape than 75% of guys in their twenties
ReplyDeleteDeath before the late-sixties is about a decade short of Glazer's generation's life expectancy. Leukemia is basically blood cancer. Improper nutrition with excess consumption of carbonated drinks, and frequent enough alcohol mixed in same are cautioned against by health researchers to eliminate higher possibilities of leukocytes' being damaged. So, looking fit on the outside doesn't always mirror internal states of health.
DeleteI know two vegans, both overweight. Don't blame the meat for poor eating habits.
ReplyDeleteOK, I've stopped eating meat. In other words, dinner's over. Looking forward to bacon with my eggs tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePETA, it's too late for me! Save yourselves! Leave the extra meat for me.
ReplyDeleteI only eat vegetarian cows.
ReplyDeletebyron corn and soy are a waste of land that could have been used to grow food instead of death. start there.
ReplyDeleteunfortunately the man who hates u on this blog is hysterical.
altho it is true more non-meat food can be gained from acres than meat on the same acres. But considering our distribution system, you would get to feed 1/3 of it to cultivate pork chops.
ReplyDeleteI have a dumb question. Is Byron related to the former mayor of Kansas City? I always get a laugh out of his insane posts.
