TKC MUST READ!!! FEDS EXAMINE JACKSON COUNTY AND HIGHLIGHT PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE VISITING EVERY KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE SCENE!!!

Beyond the vapid crime fighting rhetoric of politicos and outcry from activists, right now we want to share a detailed account of how local law enforcement confronts violence.

Important fact . . .

IN THIS BREAKING NEWS REPORT, FEDS HIGHLIGHT THE JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE ON THE SCENE OF EVERY KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE!!!

Accordingly, today we wanted to share local data on the topic of fighting crime in KCMO and behind the scene dox that was recently released nationwide.

Background . . .

"A newly released study from the U.S. Department of Justice explores how various communities, including Jackson County, work with police and community to reduce, investigate and prosecute violent crime.

"Current and former Jackson County prosecutors participated in writing the study. Jackson County's practice of going to the scenes of homicides and homicide committee meetings that involve both prosecutors and police are among the practices highlighted in the report."

New Justice Department study on the prosecutor's role in reducing violent crime

Here's how the prosecutor's office deals with KCMO crime scenes . . .

"Unless they are told the scene is unsafe, prosecutors in the Jackson County, Missouri Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (Kansas City) go to all homicide crime scenes, even if no arrest has been made . . .

"In Kansas City, prosecutors are on crime scene duty for two weeks, coinciding with the police homicide squad two-week assignment, and attend every homicide crime scene during that period. They have a checklist to help them with their responsibilities and are mindful of staying in the outer ring of the crime scene area. The prosecutor prepares any investigative subpoenas or search warrants and, if appropriate, files charges on cases investigated while on duty. Less experienced attorneys strive to be put on the crime scene duty rotation as it is seen as a vote of confidence from the office."

How cases move forward . . .

"Every two weeks the Jackson County Homicide Committee meets, bringing together prosecutors in the violent crime unit and the Kansas City Police Department. The prosecutor and lead detective present the case. Topics addressed include the initial charging decision, possible additional or upgraded charges, other areas to investigate, or further evidence to be sought. A case can be presented before or after charges are filed. The presenting prosecutor writes a memo to be reviewed, as necessary, as the case proceeds through the judicial system."

Conclusion . . .

"The role of the prosecutor in the investigation of violent crime has received little study and attention. The Prosecutor Convening, which forms the basis for this paper, gave experienced violent crime prosecutors the opportunity to share strategies, ask questions, and learn from one another. They were united in their belief that enhancing the investigation of violent crime through the work of and in collaboration with the prosecutor is an essential component in ensuring that a prosecution is accurate and timely in the first instance. The prosecutors agreed that improved investigation and prosecution of violent crime can lead to enhanced public safety, which in turn is a critical step in allowing communities to thrive and grow."

  1. Somewhat encouraging. Like the fact that they're out there at every murder scene. Would like to see the KCMO mayor & council do the same or at least propose some kind of solution.

  2. Okay, but they really need to investigate what his happening with COMBAT and where Frank put the money.

  3. 6:26 the real eastside is offended by your ignorance, the murders are in the central core, not the real eastside. They city calls everything east of troost the eastside so they can steal all the tax money from the good areas and waste it on worthless no good central core.

Be it as it may be and whoopie squat. BFD so what and how has this in anyway reduced crime? How is this in anyway keeping criminals off the street once charged and convicted? Stupid ass study that don't mean shit if you want my opinion. All boils down to the fact the Jackson county prosecutor office is still below par in dealing with criminals in the judicial system.

  5. What they meant was severely reduced sentences for the worst imaginable crimes

  6. Doesn’t do a damn thing if they get probation and commit another murder when they should have still been in prison in the first place. Maybe that part of the report got left out or never investigated

  7. A waste of time because Jean Petersucker Baker is the weakest prosecutor ever. She has no skills and absolutely no desire to put violent hood rat criminals in prison. She contributes to the high murder rate.

  8. If Peter Baker would prosecute the crime of arson after a woman causes two arson fires; then perpretator might not be able to burn a third nail salon that results in the death of two firefighters.

  9. Forte' got big time publicity for showing up at every homicide scene, at least for a while when the media was paying attention.
And also, of course, racking up $500,000 in overtime pay.
This is just another "activity", just like all the nonprofit grifters like Mother in Charge, none of which amount to much of anything.
Murders continue at the rate of at least ten a month.
The homicide clearance rate continues to hover around only 50%.
    Lots of talk.
    Not much action.
Even less in the way of results.
    Endless excuses.
    It never changes.

  10. I think it's worth reiterating that Jean Petersucker Baker is the absolute worst, most useless prosecutor imaginable.
