Kansas City Housing Crisis Unresolved

Today's meeting was mostly just an exercise in propaganda with a great many talking points that should look good on campaign mailers.

The main problem that was mostly ignored . . .

RISING KANSAS CITY UTILITY COSTS THAT OUTPACE SIMILAR CITIES MAKE LIFE EVEN HARDER FOR LOW INCOME RESIDENTS!!!

Add that problem to more sales taxes and KCMO fees and uplifting talk from politicos quickly falls apart.

The official line:

KSHB: KC officials define what is considered affordable housing

Money line:

One question the policy answers is the definition of affordable housing for Kansas City, defined as no more than 30 percent of a household’s annual median income.

It further brackets income levels to reflect what percentage of the city’s median income that household is bringing in. For example, housing programs could be targeted to help families making 60 percent of AMI Average Median Income - ($30,741).

You decide . . .
