This morning our blog community documents another chapter in the ongoing KANSAS CITY HOMELESS CRISIS that local politicos and most media denizens are too scared to mention.
Sunday we confirmed EPIC damage done to a local street by KCMO homeless.
And now . . .
TOP ECHELON KANSAS CITY INSIDERS WARN OF HOMELESS BIOHAZARD THREATENING DOWNTOWN RESIDENTS!!!
Here's the troubling sitch near the Missouri State Office Building:
"TKC, read the story yesterday about the hobos and just wanted to alert you and your readers to a far more pressing crisis inside the beloved Downtown loop situated along Holmes along 13th & 14th street . . . Look closely during the day and or night and you'll see a steady number of homeless who loiter next to the (state) government building. What's worse is that they're using the site as their own personal toilet. This Summer the "public dumping" has been even worse and with a good breeze the foul smell emanates across the area. Rats scurry to and from the location and only God knows what kind of disease the mosquitos near the site are carrying.
Let's be clear, it's not just a nuisance, it's a public safety threat.
We like to talk about the progress of Downtown but this patch of land is some of the worst KC has seen in generations and it's growing more polluted every day. This afternoon I captured a photo to send to you of a typical homeless resident relaxing near the location after relieving himself."
Reality . . .
DESPITE HYPE ABOUT HIGHER RENTS AND LUXURY LIVING SPACE, JUST A FEW BLOCKS OVER FROM P&L DISTRICT GOOD LIFE, DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY HOSTS AN OPEN AIR HOMELESS SEWER!!!
Again, we offer this info as a reality check amid the real estate selling season and so much irrational exuberance regarding Downtown KCMO life without any real reporting from the street level.
Developing . . .
rather than blame the homeless for this problem, let's talk about solution. There needs to be more accommodations downtown for people to use the restroom the right way. A port-a-potty at least would solve a lot of this problem.
ReplyDelete^^^ Yeah, people are just going to love paying 3X rent with a KCMO toilet right outside of their office. Some volunteers from renters will beat down your door.
DeleteIt's not just about talking trash, we're talking some shit on Downtown and it's about time. For too long they're siphoning all of KC's resources.
DeleteBetter title: Downtown Kansas City is a toilet.
ReplyDeleteAgree with the first comment, KC needs a site for port-a-potties at the very least. This isn't the only downtown "dumping" ground and cleaning up homeless shite is the last chor we want to give to new downtown residents.
DeleteAre you such an ass sucker that you have consider the real estate?
ReplyDeleteSly James has never really addressed this issue. Sure, they clean out the camps every now and then, but the homeless just end up shuffled to another part of town that doesn't have services for them. Why not install some of those public toilets that have a timer on them ?
ReplyDeleteusa needs more public toilets in general.
ReplyDeletein europe, there seem to be lot more.
What about all the queers who discard their used condoms on the street after they have had anonymous gay sexua anal intercourse? That happens all the time downtown.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Oh no! A public threat!!! My Gold!!! Warning! Warning! This is serious you guys! Red alert! Red alert! We are not safe. Kick-ass TKC insiders have sounded the alarm! My God! Lord help us all! Danger! Danger!
ReplyDelete6:48, the public toilets disappeared about the same time as the Jim Crow laws.
ReplyDeleteCoincidence?
KCMO is moving forward and gaining momentum to catch San Francisco in leading the U.S. in a public feces problem.
ReplyDeleteKCMO would have public toilets if they would dig the potholes a little deeper and the homeless could pitch their tent over them. This would go great with the pothole pansy program and the aroma from the pansies would hide the feces stench.
This is just another problem Slie does not want to get his hands dirty and deal with. It is not a flashy project that he can have his name on so he will not touch it.
You can barely drive by the hobo camp under the bridge for I70 under the bridge on sterling, it stinks bad, nobody is doing a damn thing about. The popo say it’s the states problem but KCPD work for the state so somebody is lying....... as usual
ReplyDeleteI'm sooo scared! Why has our God forsaken us? What do we do? I mean, I shit myself in my diaper like you guys, can't we just send them some Depends? It works for us!
ReplyDeleteWeez be competin' wit the street shit capitals of the world.
ReplyDeleteSan Francisco and Portland!
Love my KANSAS SHITTY
ReplyDeleteI feel the city should just build a space for homeless, and have provided toilets and showers, like a campground. They would at least now where the homeless are at any given time. Cleaning out homeless camps is a waste of time and money. Need nothing fancy, use those stainless steel toilets and showers with automatic shutoff valves. Then we could have clean homeless people panhandling the public. Not stink, no BO.
ReplyDeletePorta Poddys @ every toy train stop
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't KC just get a big bus and take them to LA or SF or some hyper-blue city that loves illegals?
ReplyDeleteThat is a serious question. We dont wnat them here. They are not safe when KC gets below zero. Move them to a place where they are wanted.
Mad Dog 20/20 urine is corrosive to concrete, ask your uncles.
ReplyDelete^And MDxx/xx is damaging to the teefuses and livers and bladders. Ax all y'all men kin.
DeleteThe real biohazard? All the fat nasty diseased bar sluts in Westport
ReplyDeleteHobo, homo, just one letter difference.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThis isn't just a downtown problem they use the park on Armour as a toilet too, they have been doing it for years. Women do it in broad daylight. When it rains that stuff flows right down into the backyards of Central Hyde Park residents, and that's not to mention crack corner (Armour and Troost) they go behind the buildings. If you end up with scabies you know you've been near an open toilet.
Slie could use the pre kindergarten tax money that is going to be funneled to the developers to help solve this problem. Now that the biohazard caused by the homeless has hit the airways team Slie is working very hard behind the scenes to get this problem moved away from downtown. One of Slie's agenda items is to move anything that stains downtown away from downtown.
ReplyDeleteBus driver, mentioned above, would have to wear oxygen mask.
ReplyDeleteJust wait for the street car extension . UMKC here they come
ReplyDeleteBut sLIE said he eliminated the homeless problem!
ReplyDeleteThe whole city has turned into a biohazard
ReplyDeleteSurely we're not the only city with this problem? How is it handled elsewhere -- or is it?
ReplyDelete@ 3:57, other cities prohibit enabling the homeless (free food, etc.)
ReplyDeleteand hauling their filthy asses over fifty miles out of town after raiding their camps.
They either use the shelters provided (and follow the rules there) or get out of town, moving to a more tolerant place like Kansas City.
Maybe KC should look at something like the county poor farms from years ago. Homeless people had a place to stay but they were largely self sufficient, raising a lot of their own food, cleaning/maintaining the “dorms,” etc. Try putting them on sites where some of the blighted houses are now. A professionally operated poor farm would look better than the blighted houses.
ReplyDeleteToo many poos means we all lose! Maybe the city could put up those doggy bag dispensers so the homeless can pick up and bag their poo.
ReplyDeleteanomie.
