Dr. Ernest Evans is a renowned local law enforcement expert with connections and insight which have worked to help police across the region.
And now . . .
HERE'S EXCLUSIVE WORD & DATA REGARDING KCPD STAFFING AT THE OUTSET OF AN ALREADY VIOLENT SUMMER!!!
Checkit:
Dr. Ernest Evans: KCPD Personnel Levels
"With respect to the crime situation in KCMO, an important aspect about our crime surge since the summer of 2014, like the crime surges we have seen in most of the cities around the country, is that police forces all over the country, which were already seriously under strength at the time of the Ferguson tragedy of August 9, 2014, are now massively under strength.
At the end of calendar year 2013, the last year before Ferguson, there were 242 sergeants, 250 detectives, and 724 patrol officers in the KCPD.
As of the end of 2017, there are 239 sergeants, 241 detectives, and 683 patrol officers in the KCPD. And, remember, in 2013 the KCPD was already under strength. As a number of veteran police officers have put it to me: "Doc, nobody wants to be a cop anymore."
If we want to cut crime in KCMO we are going to have to bring the KCPD up to its proper strength."
Developing . . .
Makes a good point. But sadly the response to this is always that the "public safety" portion of Kc's budget is more than 50% of all revenue.
ReplyDeleteWhat taxpayers need to know is that cash includes a lot of pension funding and money that doesn't go to law enforcement on local streets. And ambulance service in the KCFD also accounts for a huge share. These are all important concerns but the problem is that locals don't even have the proper terminology when trying to debate how resources are spent.
It really is a shell game.
Maybe "outgunned" is the wrong word.
DeleteThere were three officer involved shootings this month after all.
^^^ Good point!
DeleteIt's not weapons that KCPD needs but more personnel on the streets. For the most part that's what the new chief seems to be trying to do. But he doesn't seem to be getting a lot of support from Sly & Co.
Dr. Evans makes a good argument but he left out the 1000 body cameras. They would definitely help if Slie would take the funds from the developers and fund the purchase of the cameras. The cameras would help eliminate the he said she said scenarios.
ReplyDelete3:59 is right.
ReplyDeleteThe video of every encounter would be an officer's best friend. The video is hard to refute. With very, very few exceptions, the riots, dysfunction and violence cities have had to deal with over the last 5 years, would have been dramatically mitigated by video.
There was no "Hands Up".
At this point, it seems as though, blacks are traditionally parasympathetically bred to scream "racism" if so much as white snow appears on the ground.

They are liars, looking for a payday.
Oh good lord not this crackpot again.
ReplyDeleteHey where's Alonzo Washington been? Another respected TKC source, lol.
Alonzo is a retard.
DeleteKCPD got more money in the budget than they asked for. Let that sink in?
ReplyDeleteJust hoping that all of this pressures the council to do something rather than just talking about crime with absolutely no action.
ReplyDeleteI hope when the police get bodycams, the number of hood rats they shoot increases. There are a lot of times they have a chance to shoot a hood rat and pass on it, because they don't have bodycams to show that it was a justified shooting. A lot more hood rats will get shot and killed, always a good thing.
ReplyDelete^^You DO NOT have more value than others. In fact, your hatred shows that you have less.
ReplyDelete^^Hush child
ReplyDeletePeople should be buying guns and ammo to protect themselves and their families .
ReplyDelete5:29, fuck you
ReplyDeleteWhy not offer vouchers to hood rats to relocate elsewhere, like Higginsville? They'd be Kings in that town.
ReplyDeleteIf we're simply talking about weapons, just employ "stop and frisk". In a very short time, cops would have more felons' guns than they could ever need, then give remainder to concerned citizens without rap sheets, so they could defend themselves and their families.
ReplyDeleteOh good-- the completely failed, discredited academic again! Way to vet your sources. How about citing the thousands of criminologists that actually do research and publish in peer reviewed journals? Oh, right, that wouldn't fit your agenda.
