Jail Task Force announces public input meetings
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr.’s Jail Task Force is inviting community members to attend the first of two public input meetings regarding the Jackson County Detention Center.
These meetings play an important role in helping the Jail Task Force fulfill its mission to make recommendations related to the potential capacity and type of jail the Jackson County community needs and deserves.
What: Jail Task Force Public Input Meeting
When: Monday, June 11 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Where: Manual Career and Technical Center
1215 E. Truman Road, KCMO
Citizens will have the opportunity to participate in an open dialogue with task force members and Shive-Hattery/HDR team leaders, who are conducting an analysis and feasibility study of Jackson County’s criminal justice system. The Shive-Hattery/HDR team is comprised of leading firms from coast-to-coast in the criminal justice system, including Urban Institute, Further the Work, Falcon Inc. and MG Martin Inc.
Community members can also submit their concerns and ideas by emailing jailtaskforce@jacksongov.org. A second public input meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, July 16. Additional details are still being finalized.
