For those who haven't seen it already, here's a glimpse of racism in the eye of the beholder OR a testament to the pervasive legacy of slavery.
Call this our Kansas City Captain Morgan news item of the day . . .
Fox4: The tall, wooden “thing” that angered the Blue Springs grandfather was an attraction Jackson County Spokesperson Marshanna Hester said is known as a “pirate stockade.” Hester said for 10 years now marina visitors have used it as “a prop for pirate-themed birthday parties.
“I didn’t see any pirate-related stuff on or by that thing. No flag, no bucket, nothing for pirate days. There’s just no place for it. It’s slave stock. My grandson asked me, 'Why is it here?' It bothered me all night long, and I was sick to my stomach."
The County says it will "re-evaluate the use of the pirate stockade" which means it should be gone soon in order to achieve social justice victory over a couple of planks of wood.
You decide . . .
No matter what it is, it's probably a liability risk for the County, wouldn't be a bad idea to take it down.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of "pirate related stuff" would this guy need to convince him that the site is a play-pirate structure? Would a parrot be enough?
ReplyDeleteThere they go....ruining everyone's fun.......as he drives away blaring ganster rap and disturbing everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI think that(pirate stockade) is disturbing everyone else also
DeleteClearly it's a black pirate stockade. Duh.
ReplyDeleteThey will take it down because darkie is offended by it watch and see.
ReplyDeleteDarkie? WOW! You must still live in the slave days, jus sad.
DeleteIt's origin is England, & it has nothing to do with pirates, or slavery, though it may have been used in America to punish slaves.
ReplyDelete^Professor BlieRON Funkydelik imparting his wunnerful worldly wisdom. Not.
DeleteIm sure it holds blacks back from many things like getting jobs and paying for their bastard children...the whiny bastard was probably out there fishing without a license.
ReplyDeleteJust sad, the things people say
DeleteMe not understand wooden object. Me angry! Where be the skull and crossbones at?
ReplyDeleteMake an art class assignment of painting a pirate themed sign. Problem solved. Wow, is this gramps so easily triggered by the sight of the ropes on boats and the sturdy tree limbs at the lake?
ReplyDeleteThis father failed at teaching his son that everything doesn't have to be racist just because it might be. Should white people avoid all black people just because they might get robbed or be the next helpless victim in the knock out game?
ReplyDeleteGrandson can't you read ?
Delete^^ 11:50 nailed it!
ReplyDelete+100
Give it time somebody will burn it down. maybe they can use it as Mike Sanders and Frank White's jail.
ReplyDeleteFairly sure they have those at Ren Fest too. Gonna complain about those ?
ReplyDeleteAnother butt hurt libtard holding a race card in everyone's face. Get a life you f..ing a hole.
ReplyDelete^^Ugh. Sad and pathetic. Geezer musings. They reek of fetid diapers.

I think paying taxes to feed your grandson free food at school is racist.
ReplyDeleteEternal slaves.
ReplyDeleteQbert is right, these Blacks suffer from self-imposed slavery due to their new religion, the concept of "Victimhood"!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm a Victim, I can't do anything. poor me!
Oh Whitey has "White Privilege", I can't do anything, poor me!
Oh, that is designed to invoke Slavery, offensive to poor me!
Oh, there is no Flag or Bucket (WTF?) it's pure slavery, poor me!
You don't ever hear any of this sort of shit from the African-Americans who have jobs, and marriages, and families, and whose children are actually trying to learn something in School, do you?d
Have the governor give it a whirl with his latest bottom!
ReplyDeletePics for the WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nobody bitched when they put witches in them or anyone for that matter who broke the law back in the colonial days. And that was before slavery and those who ended up in them was white people. So Mr. Glenn Smith how about you just STFU!
ReplyDeleteI don't gripe when I see a tanning bed, and it's a constant reminder of how white and oppressed I am, being taxed extra for using it. Thanks 0bama.
ReplyDeleteBlah blah blah. I am old and racist. Thanks Tony for giving me and the disaffected voice of my generation a place to outdo each other on how stupid we can be! As you can see, we are pretty fucking good at being terrible people!

Wait, what? Those 4 lines make a tiny rap, y'all.
@3:46-Are you retarded or 3? What kind of geriatric fucktard talks like this? Dude, it’s shit like that is the reason you’re alone and posting on a blog at 3:46PM.
Delete2:29 is obviously also 6:46, just a twigguhd Tweety.

Just another un'educated Negro' tryin' to make an issue out of utter bullshit that he doesn't know anything about - so typical !!
WE find their baggy saggy pants racist too, and their stupid silly lookin' Dreadlocks as well, and will be making it illegal thru SB-Bill:215.79 ND,, this summer
making it illegal to be seen in public wearing dreadlocks, and face up to 10 years for each dreadlock dangling from their head, its Racist, ugly and soon to be illegal under SB Bill !!
Hey Dude, it's a life preserver. Try it on and go for a swim.
ReplyDeleteEverybody knows that's where you park your slave after you ride him to the bathing hole. We can't have them just wandering around, lawd knows they can't swim.
ReplyDeleteA real teaching moment. Pirates were the biggest murdering, thieving, raping, torturing, thoughtless bastards in the world. But even on a pirate ship, there were rules. They were the same as just about any civilized society, cuz you gotta maintain law and order even on a pirate ship. Pirates were multi cultural. You think Jabbo got away with crying racism after he got caught stealing from Nigel ? Even gang members got rules, and they recognize when they break the ones that are intended to keep us all safe. Dont by the jive, these people know what they're doing (how's that for crediting the intellect).
ReplyDeleteI wish Kanye West would weigh in on this matter.
ReplyDeleteAaahh, Snowflake, it made you sick to your tummy? Kept you up all night long? Poor baby......
ReplyDeleteClarification: The thing being protested is a "stock," not a "stockade."
ReplyDeleteStocks have been in use around the world since before the time of Christ. They are an instrument used to hold accused criminals before trial, and also used as a form of punishment and/or humiliation. They've been used by numerous races and religions for thousands of years. And yes, there were cases where stocks were used to hold slaves.
The request to remove the stocks from Longview Lake is ridiculous. The complainant states stocks were used to hold slaves, and therefore is a symbol of slavery. Stocks were NOT something exclusively used on slaves, and therefore NOT a symbol of slavery. If stocks were purely a symbol of slavery, he would have a valid request for removal. But this clearly isn't the case, and his request should not be honored simply because he draws that correlation. Using his same logic, it would be just as reasonable for me to request that Longview remove all boats from the lake, since all slaves were brought to the Americas on boats. And for that matter, let's remove all American flags, because those flew over the boats bringing the slaves to the Americas, too.
The stocks at the lake have "shiver me timbers" across the top, clearly a reference to shipping and pirates, who also used stocks. So the only thing more ridiculous than the complainant's request is if Jackson County actually removes the stocks. And of course, let's recognize the way Fox4 presented this story, representing only those supporting removal of the stocks and the distorted correlation they've drawn, and not presenting any alternate viewpoint or the facts behind the matter.
