Here's a note from our blog community crime & punishment and a human rights crisis challenges politicos:
NEW EXPLOSIVE RAPE ALLEGATIONS AT THE JACKSON COUNTY JAIL:
Last Saturday night, a woman being held on municipal charges alleges that she was raped by a male inmate who was hiding in the women's bathroom. True to form for a series of rapes under the White administration, the male inmate was let out of his cell and given access to the bathroom by an employee of the county. He then hid in the bathroom until she arrived and then proceeded to rape her while the guards did nothing. The matter is currently under investigation, and regardless of whether actual criminal charges are filed (likely), another monumental "breakdown" of basic jail procedures proves nothing has changed at the Jail and Frank White is STILL asleep at the wheel. At some point, people need to be held accountable for this human rights crises, but the current gang in charge is more interested in scoring political debating points than saving peoples lives it seems.
WHERE IS THE FAUX OUTRAGE FROM CRYSTAL WILLIAMS?:
She learned about the rape over the weekend, so her SILENCE on another sexual assault of a helpless female inmate while employees, at best, just stood by IS SIMPLY DEAFENING! It seems she is very "selective" at when she becomes outraged, only engaging when it serves her narrow pollical purposes. She is in the middle of a very difficult primary and clearly has made the political calculation to avoid any public criticism of the thin-skinned Frank White, lest it cost her further campaign support; even if that means women are being assaulted on her watch.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, you could get locked up for some mistaken parking tickets and end up getting raped. Think about that Lee's Summit and Blue Springs residents as you pay 400-500K for your new house.

If only the local news would make light of this, but they have their gag orders. Pathetic. Thats why local news in KC kind of sucks.

If the jail followed its own protocol and called the Sheriff's office to investigate, the records of the Sheriff are open and news media can request them. This used to happen when the previous jail director and previous sheriff were there. Now it's a whole new game of hide and seek. Until the inmate files a lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteJail is out of control. Agree with comment @8:51 - The threat to the public real and you'd hate to condemn somebody to a death sentence just because they've had some low level fine that is unpaid.

ReplyDeleteYou always hear people telling you "stay out of Kansas City" and this is part of the reason why, the risk of getting locked up here is real and a big downside for the new gentry.
ReplyDeleteUh oh, won't this REAL rape in Killa Shitty's jail distract from Jean's special prosecutor gig to get 50 Shades of Guv investigated? Wow! KC taxpayers will be likely funding this rape $ettlement while paying for the digging around on Luv Guv Grietens. Ugh.
