For those who haven't seen it yet, this week the Kansas City's Ad Hoc Group Against Crime published an important glimpse of their organization over the years.
Locals can argue about about the effectiveness of local anti-crime organizations but there's no questioning the long-term commitment of this organization in confronting crime on local streets.
Take a look:
As far as local media goes, the clip is professional, poignant and provides and excellent perspective on the scope of the group.
This mini-documentary promotional video debut is important and newsworthy for the Kansas City residents at large if only because it reveals growing concern about the rising murder count and possible solutions as we get closer to the typically violent Summer months.
Developing . . .
A big part of the "community outreach" effort is getting neighborhoods involved to fight their own battles. I think this might be more effective than the hand holding marches we used to have.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see KCMO finally learning a few lessons about working harder and more efficiently not just spending more money.
If we can get the murder rate down this year, just wondering if how many city council members try to take credit for it when most of them have talked about ANYTHING else but local murders.
DeleteMakes you wonder how much money they make if they’re fighting that hard to keep that easy money coming
ReplyDelete^^ Excellent question.
ReplyDeleteMurder, a problem that very little can be done to any effect within acceptable legal boundaries set by today's progressive society. Check points, house to house searches and armed neighborhood patrols are the tools it would take to have an effect.
ReplyDeleteInstead of supporting museums, entertainment districts and out dated transportation systems to nowhere the city should be supporting industrial parks on the east side with TIFs, bus service and tax funded training. These types of efforts are the only way to ever begin to lessen the causes of murder.
Arm the neighborhood patrols , allowed to use maximum force legally to defend themselves and take out the criminals inner city youth scholar's hood rats that want to KILLA CITY anyone who's WHITE , BLACK , thump the drug turf BITCHES SHIT HOLE EATING black asses once and for all , sending out a clear picture that we won't tolerate the shit from any PUNK ass HOMOSEXUALLY ABOUNDS TRANNY BITCHES anymore !¡!¡!!¡¡
ReplyDeleteAd Hoc has been around since 1977 and has done very little except for Al Brooks.
ReplyDeleteIn 2017, when there were 150 murders in KCMO, 88% of the victims were black and it's a good guess that the same percentage, or higher, of the perpetrators were too, although it's hard to tell since less than 50% of the murders are ever solved.
Much more focused and aggressive policing coupled with resident involvement are the only way the small percentage of a minority population is going to gotten off the streets.
It's really not rocket science.
And it doesn't take a PROMOTIONAL video from an ineffective unaccountable nonprofit.
Whenever the very appropriate question of funding for these groups comes up, there's a mad scramble for relevance and publicity.
Next up: Videos for Aim4Peace, Mothers in Charge, and all the rest of the tax money-sucking crowd.
Nothing ever changes.
^^Exactly what has Alvin Brooks done except be the poster child for this failed organization??? I’ll wait...
ReplyDeleteAlvin would be great at running the jazz museum further into the bass drum.
ReplyDeleteOh Please.
ReplyDeleteI won't spend my precious time watching BS.
Alvin Brooks is ineffective in addressing the real problem. The mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers enable the criminals in the inner city. The criminal's relatives know when there are illegal guns and drug activity going on in their homes, churches and their "community" YET remain willfully blind.
So they are directly responsible for the crimes and so is Alvin Brooks.
^^^Blah blah blah more inane ramblings from some of the dumbest MF'ers in our city.
ReplyDeleteImpressed that a few have knowledge of the non-profit for profit enterprises funded by Ur hard earned taxable dollars. Just last week blog, comments wanting Alvin for Sheriff or Name a street after him...Nice to see not everyone drinks the Kool-aid .
