KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Jackson County jury found a 31-year-old man guilty Tuesday of numerous charges related to a New Years Day homicide in 2016. Ramon Boyd was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and leaving the scene of a shooting in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Sedrick Jones.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A metro man has a beef with whoever stole a barbecue pit and trailer donated to the American Royal. "I got a call from American Royal to see if they could borrow a cooker because their unit has come up missing," said BBQ pit manufacturer Ed Maurin, who donated the trailer to the American Royal almost four years ago.

  1. When a reduction in violence and crime is a result of allocating more police resources to a high-crime part of the city, it doesn't demonstrate the "success" of a program like NoVa.
    It's an example of what common sense and decent management of a police department can achieve.
    And focusing attention like this is what the CompStat program from NYC was all about.
    In KCMO what this approach will quickly demonstrate is that the KCPD is woefully short of manpower, which is a direct result of poor priorities and decisions at city hall.
    Whack-a-mole is not a sustainable strategy.
