Recently our blog community sent word of a longstanding eyesore that continues to confront Kansas City residents despite promises to remove local blight.
To wit . . .
SPECIAL THANKS TO AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS FOR SENDING PIX OF THE VERY WORST OF KANSAS CITY FOR ALL TO SEE AT THE HILLSIDE MOTEL!!!
As always, tipsters get the 1st word . . .
Description . . .
"Here's a few photos of Hillside condemned former motel. Now an eyesore and health and safety hazard. Part of area of Blue Parkway was upgraded but now the project has been abandoned. These photos were taken near the Eastwood Trafficway light. Visitors going to stadiums can see this en route. Esp. out of town teams on buses go past it. It's a dumping ground for trash. No telling who lives there now."
Consider this a demand for KCMO to do something about a dangerous structure that should've been demolished long ago.
Moreover . . .
This place was pretty sketchy when it was open but now the abandoned complex has become a clear & present sign of KCMO in serious decay for those taking the back way to the Stadiums this Summer.
Developing . . .
Maybe think about declaring it a historic kansas city site.
ReplyDeleteThat way it'll be bulldozed promptly.
A lot of people see it on the way home from the stadium as well. One of KC's worst eyesores.
Delete3rd District. Talk to Councilman Jermaine Reed. He wants to be mayor after all.
DeleteSo much for those go bonds.
ReplyDeleteYou would think it would collapse under its own weight by now.
ReplyDeleteThat's been an eyesore for as long as I remember.
Hot damn, with color tv and waterbeds, how the hell did this place ever go out of business?
ReplyDeleteThis blight brought to you by Sly James and the city council.
ReplyDeleteThey can't spend a very small portion of the new 800 million
approved by voters to fix this?
Run a streetcar line past this and it will become Las Vegas overnight!
ReplyDeleteAnother adventure for those 25 million tourists who visit every year.
Or maybe throw $100 million or so of tax money at it and it can be 18th and Vine East.
Surely there's some "developer" with big big dreams and no money who can con KCMO city hall into opening the public vault!
What a nice liberal city hey they tvs
ReplyDeleteMovin' on up to the eastside, to the deluxe blight at Hillside!
ReplyDeleteMatch....gas can....problem solved.
ReplyDeleteYeah make it a historic district. Throw monies at it, appoint committees and hire all kinds of losers for city paid consulting positions to make sure it is a success.
ReplyDeleteWhat could go wrong? I mean it's working for 18th and Vine, isn't it?
sad used to be good for 2 hour quickie
ReplyDeleteI would like to see the spread sheet for the repair work they are doing on the 7 blocks east off 71 between Gregory and Meyer, what a cluster fuck they have got going on.I mean that area was shit before this "bond" work was started, how can you go from bad to worse?
ReplyDelete^^I would like to see the property of everyone of you worthless little bitches who do nothing but complain on here. I bet you all have some shitholes of your own. Clean up your own backyards. I'm tired of reading a bunch of comments from a bunch of butthurt little bitches.
ReplyDeleteThen don’t read them, faggot.
DeleteSo don't read the comments, 3:04. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteLets rent this place out ...especially since no one can be evicted if the city fathers have their way.
ReplyDeleteSo don't post the comments @3:20PM. Problem solved.
ReplyDelete3:04 shut up loser sLIE, this is your mess to clean up so quit wasting our hard earned money and spend it on the real priorities
ReplyDeleteSo the commenter at 3:04 pm is actually in favor of blight? He probably owns a blighted property.
ReplyDelete^^^you probably failed a couple of grades.
DeleteMy posts are not my problem, 3:43, and I don't much care if they're a problem to 3:04.
ReplyDeleteCongressman Clever owns that place.
ReplyDeleteNew Coaches location !!!
ReplyDelete@4:08pm well they bore the shit out of me.
ReplyDeleteI smoked Crack 1 time there in the late 80'/early 90s. A brother from a black mother and I met at the Bar down the road, he was into that stuff and picked up a gal. I had powder coke, he had the crack. Anyho, we all partied and I tried the pipe. 1 and only time. The young lady did blow both of us. It was all good. It is a landmark! The above is approved from a white guy. P.S. we are both alive and well. Save the Hillside!
ReplyDelete^^^^^^Yawn. Zzzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteMAYBE,,, we can put some Duct Tape on it and get KC Mayor SLY JAMES to live in it, be perfect for him, like the Degenerate Trash he is !!!
ReplyDelete7:08 Can't handle the truth? Nobody makes that stuff up. What's your story about the Hillside?
ReplyDelete........ Thought so....
make a horror movie there before it's torn down. or, maybe burn it down or blow it up or something in the movie. i know, have a maniac on a giant bulldozer flatten it.
ReplyDeleteCalling BS on this! How did the methhead scrappers miss the copper valley flashing in the third picture?
ReplyDeleteAlways surprised to drive by this place. Real shame on KC, it should get torn down before baseball season because a lot of people see it on their way to and from the K.
ReplyDeleteIt's haunted
ReplyDelete.....Get dynamite....and a crane....blow it up, start all over again...
ReplyDeleteTobacco Road!
The last several years a few of us have cleaned up the creek behind this place during the Blue River Cleanup. The masonary work in this building is incredible. If it was around Branson or somewhere else it might be a million dollar property.
