Today's Kansas City news cycle is completed with hard feelings throughout Kansas City, Kansas and the sneaking suspicion that the ousted Mayor might have been indulging in FAKE NEWS as his term nears a conclusion.
Forgive our AWESOME TKC BLOG COMMUNITY for not buying the advocacy of so many social media trolls who pretend they're working as fiscal hawks for the benefit of taxpayers . . .

THE KCKFD 'SHIFT TRADING CRISIS' LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER LOCAL NOTHING-BURGER OR JUST SOME POLITICAL SOUR GRAPES SERVED UP TO MSM!!!
Fact is, a statement tonight from the FD and Unified Government seems to myth-bust most of the allegation as supporters of the FD seethed at some politicos in attendance at the big meeting tonight.

Not exactly "nothing" but a good example of a frustrated elected official willing to burn everyone around him after an election loss.
ReplyDeleteFD did the right thing tonight. Showed that they would not cave in to political intimidation from Holland.
DeleteThey need to clean house in the fire department. Get rid of all the inbred corruption and laziness.
ReplyDelete+100
DeleteUnified Government is overdue for a house cleaning as well.
UG commissioners are cowards. They need to be recalled.
ReplyDeleteHow hollow is Holland's noggin? The FD isn't wholesale hated by DOTTES like Reverend RunHisMouth hoped. He should know there's plenty of long held PD-FD liaisons in KCK, by blood, marriage, friends, and business hookups. These decently paid PD & FD public servants' families are paying the bulk of property taxes and utilities for some of the nicer abodes. They shop local and pay sales taxes to keep others working. Formerly mostly farm areas, the bedroom burbs of Basehor, Bonner, Edwardsville, and Piper exist still, due to required residency for FD & PD. Metro new and near new car sales would take a hit if the families of union loyal personnel weren't such good clients. Kansas Speedway, Legends, NFM, Sporting, etc. found it favorable to set up shop in the Dotte because THE GOOD CITIZENS SERVING IN KCK AT RESPECTABLE WAGE SCALES AND PAYING HIGH TAXES MADE IT SO!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is not the wages that they deserve but getting paid for not working. If you have a full time union official getting paid by the taxpayers that is wrong. Let the union pay his wages. He is not working to put out fires or responding to emergencies.
ReplyDelete^Rev. HolierThanThou Holland @11:39, say your prayers and hop back in bed. You're still not getting it. Game over. Ya got all the way bitch slapped, and then some, by the good commissioners who have better sense. You also looked like ass trying to sound Tuffnuts and talking with your hands. What's with that gesture where you hold your right hand out from your chin half an arm's length with clustered fingers extended upward like you're an Italian saying, "Datsah spicy meatballs!"?! So, you're the Pope? Oh, you wanna show us your blingy ring.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like a dumb ass firefag
DeleteI'm not the mayor but a poor taxpayer that is fed up with paying these high taxes. The next time I see a firefighter at the store or eating somewhere I'm going to ask them to pay for my bill.
ReplyDeleteLet us know how that works out for ya
Delete12:12, yeah, what about asking for your bill to be paid by Mr. Buffet, the France family, Red Development, and any of the tax abated businesses that didn't need such generous gummit gifts!
ReplyDeleteHolland's a weasel, but there's a load of fishy biz in psycho wyco
ReplyDeleteLet's get a FULL report with testimony from both sides not just a hit piece by some guy who was thrown out of office!
ReplyDeleteIf we are going to be "ethical" then we need an independent investigation and data over a hit piece. Some of the commenters who want a real evaluation of this situation are right on the money but I see that it has become nothing more than a blame game - And that has always been the problem with Holland.
I hate that jerk Holland, but the firemen are about as bad.
ReplyDeleteLazy union thugs run KCK.
ReplyDeleteRev. Holy "Tax Dodge Trinity" Hollerin' prolly would have liked the unions vanished and have a day labor type staffing for FD, PD & BPU. Some of the refugees he lured to free taco dinners and dances, or dropping off their DACA kiddies at his church daycare, etc., surely would love leaving those dirt wages at restaurants, roofing, and running risky cottage industries (yeah, think Cheech & Chong). What a devout con, er, uh, Christian to have wanted the costs of public safety and utility labor decreased bigly. His besties could very likely have gotten their tax grabs and built the downtown grocery, healthy campus, urban gardens with patio homes, and whatnot, by now.
ReplyDeleteTHe commissioners aren't going to do crap, they depend on the firefighters for money and the ff union is powerful and all these dotte politcos are afraid of them
ReplyDeleteWhere will the Dotte's very nice homes, with respectable neighbors, in safe areas be if the well paid administration and union personnel of the PD, FD, BPU, and more, weren't mandated to have Dotte residency? Hmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteYes, they're paying the higher property taxes on larger homes and newer rides, plus spending plenty on kiddies, tuitions, furniture, vacays, insurance and such. Much of that spending is local, 'cause they care about their city (perhaps, their good friends or relatives may have some great hookups, and would certainly appreciate the steady revenues).
So, if it’s okay for Capt Bob Wing to pay cash to get a new guy to work for him anytime he wants, shouldn’t it also be okay for the deputy county manager to have some part-time new guy show up to work for him, so long as he gives him a few bucks in cash?
ReplyDeleteIn what other profession can you (a) not show up to work when you’re supposed to, (b) sign a time card that says you were there when you know you weren’t, and (c) NOT expect to be [rightly] fired for fraud and theft? If this were any other type of govt employee, they would have been fired in a matter of minutes.
Here’s the simple version, to my mind: firefighters are systemically committing fraud, while the city administration is systemically committing labor law violations because they have employees working and not being paid, yet both want to act like theyre innocent angels being persecuted by other. I hope they all get sued, fined, charged, whatever...
10:53--Here's a simpler version, to every mind that's got a lick of sense.
ReplyDeleteIT'S FIREFIGHTING...
NOT FASTFOOD!!!
In burger world, if the teenies ditch work, and nobody fills in, the manager's gotta hustle with them tacos and fries, and you're prolly waiting longer for 'em.
The first responders gotsta git ta sh*t REAL fast with the legally required bodies on board those rigs!
Let me help the Ruby Tuesday tools.
There's shift swaps for damn good reasons. Ya got a Rubik's cube roster and ya gotta make the colors line up. See, there's a fixed number of personnel to fill the 24/48 schedule, and never is there a guarantee that reserve members will be available at all times. Because, damn it to hell, there's often enough something that jumbles up the rosters at the various stations, caused by fire peeps getting sudden injuries, illnesses, needing to attend to personal matters, or their unexpected deaths (RIP J.G.), which really FUBARS THE WHOLE "SET SCHEDULE" WORKS!
Shift swaps SAVES THE DAY in several ways, especially when a critical number of FD have to be away due to flu season, the bad luck of multiple members injured at the same time, retirement dates are moved up, and sudden emergencies within a member's family, and more. SHIFTING "SHIFTS" HAS GOT TO HAPPEN AND NO POSSIBLE WAY IS IT GOING AWAY, unless we go robots, drones, or whatever.
