Here's a heck of a post headline from one of our pals who has chipped in to provide her help to Kansas City tax fighters . . .
Tracy: Watchdog Phillip Klein who fought BiState II buys BZ and Wolf radio spots to educate voters re 123GOBonds!!! Cites errors in Glorioso/James brochures. Quotes FACTS from City Mgr and Helling 40 yrs/not 20; $100 not $8; 2 year delays and non-binding wishlists.
The highlight of the post is her radio spot in order to preach to the choir of locals who angrily listen to Kansas City talkers rather than enjoy carefully selected podcasts or other digital fare.
Developing . . .
Go Tracy...White people need to know that it's not all rainbows and puppies.
ReplyDeleteTracy Thomas lives in SHAWNEE, KANSAS. Google it. Her address is there for all to see.
ReplyDelete^^^ Gotta live somewhere and I'm glad somebody is voicing opposition.
ReplyDeleteIt's rather obvious where you are on the issue 6:49 AM.
Vote NO 12
^^^^ Interesting how the opponents don't actually live here. Makes you wonder what their true agenda is.
ReplyDeleteLet me guess. Avoiding the silly gift of a blank check to our dismal failure of a city administration?
DeleteNice job Tracy, as usual.
ReplyDeletewait.....usually kansas people want kcmo to tax itself as much as possible, such as for stadiums, streetcars, arenas, and other amenities that benefit the whole area, including kansas non-kcmo taxpayers.
ReplyDeletei'd tend to take an opinion on its merits, not residency.
It's this 7:12, we have friends who live in Kansas City or operate businesses there. We also dislike crooked politicians no matter where they live or in what city. So you see, our agenda is helping our friends by supporting them because it appears a good majority of you who live in Kansas City do not stand up and speak out on these matters in public or in the voting booth.
ReplyDeleteTracy is just seeking attention from her friends so I really doubt her agenda is very for the people when she has in fact always been just about herself, "Blah Blah, look at me, hear me roar, I am woman."
7:12 Very few supporters live in KCMO. The Heavies and lawyers all live in JOCO. Whats their true agenda?
ReplyDeleteThere's a danger of resignation and complacency among long-time city residents. They've been through too much to care much anymore.
ReplyDelete3/30/17, 7:36 AM
ReplyDelete"Blah Blah, look at me, hear me roar, I am woman"
Are you sure she is?
Doing the work that our fishwrap local newspaper never will. Tracy, keep talking and try and reach as many as you can.
ReplyDeleteIt's not about me, being a voice talent. Geez some commenters are mentally slow. I just wrote and read copy for a man who paid out of his pocket to set the record straight--Phillip Klein. Good for Klein. So many people grouse but who writes a big check to go on the radio and say it! The brochures are all big lies. Wake up, people! Steve Glorioso is running Sly's next campaign for Congress--a man who refuses to debate! And just hosed the business community out of $859,000 for puff brochures to frequent voters--that are so factually incorrect, the City Manager is livid--Sly and his clown college cohorts don't even get it--this is a strong city manager/weak mayor form of government! They don't make the lists. They don't jam thru a list today like the Ryan Health Care Bill.
ReplyDelete123GO is a shell game. A big lie. Meanwhile the city continues to crumble because the council ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS does cost shifting to their buddies who write the checks to elect them.
You know what is pathetic? Steve Kraske is on the STAR Editorial Board, AND inherited my late mentor Walt Bodine's show on 89.3 KCUR. He interviewed Sly James yesterday and failed to ask about the disinformation in nine Glorioso brochures with Sly all over them: 40 vs 20 years, $100 v $8, two years of only spending $3 million on infrastructure.
ReplyDeleteHooray for Dave Helling who exposed all this and actually SIGNED his editorial!!
I left KCMO because of crime--bullets at my office front door every night at 31st and Main, dyslexic Mexican gangs shot up the wrong houses on Karnes Blvd. (Had the wrong street). I love KCMO but it is crumbling because the Council diverts the money to froufrou, which they will again. If 123GO fails, maybe they will give up on the downtown hotel. Maybe they will quit shifting money to the toy train that doesn't run in the run and has bad brakes like the sister model in Cincinnati--that are gonna kill someone soon. Maybe they won't build a new airport.
The brochure campaign of lies was funded by the big corps that are tax exempt!!! Cordish was subsidized $15 million this year--didn't pay their rent--but golly gee, donated $20,000 to Sly James' pack of lies, in hopes that uninformed voters will keep fixing THE SIDEWALKS FOR POWER AND LIGHT!
When they bus in the negroes from St. Louis Monday to vote for the bonds, think of all the $5 handjobs they'll be wanting Tracy! They're being put up at the Marriott.

ReplyDelete7:12 The big money behind this agenda to see it pass is not from Kansas City.
Makes you wonder what their agenda is....Could it be big business and not residents????
The reason the spots are running mostly on news talk stations, the two BZ's, 980 and 98.1 is simple. In a low turnout election, one must motivate and in this case EDUCATE AND INFORM the voters who care about news. And are the leaders of their circle of influence.
ReplyDeleteFor many years my ad agency handled James B Nutter, and then McGuire Mortgage. McGuire was selling mortgages when the rates were 20%! When they started to specialize in B&C credit refinancing, even tho the richest folks in town were BZ listeners, we tested ALL the radio stations. And News Talk Formats always produced the best results. Because even if you live just south of the Plaza and run a business, you still have family and friends and employees who do NOT have perfect credit and needed to refinance--so the smartest most informed listeners TOLD THE OTHERS IN THEIR CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE--here's what you need to do to take care of keeping your home.
The same is true for 123GO Bonds. This plan is worse than the failed Ryan Health Care Bill. It should be defeated. But you've only been fed a pack of lies, in the brochures. Financed by the big boys who already conned the Council into making them exempt from paying property taxes!
Thank God for Phillip Klein--a real taxpayer hero--who put his money where his mouth is. He is educating smart informed homeowners to tell their families and friends--KCMO can do so much better. But this Council can't be trusted. They will pull a shell game.
Why should i take the advice of some rich white woman wasting her money on trying to get attention?
ReplyDeleteKC needs serious people in our politics, not eccentrics looking for affirmation.
Tracy convinced me to vote YES on questions one two and three!
Why? Because she's telling the truth. Why are you so eager to write a billion dollar blank check to our clownish, fat failure of a mayor?
DeleteGet the fat grifter another scotch while you're trolling on his behalf.
Tracy Thomas lives in SHAWNEE, KANSAS. Google it. Her address is there for all to see.-3/30/17, 6:49 AM
ReplyDeleteKCMO voters like to have Johnson Countians tell them how to vote.
Get back to shining Mayor Bullhorn's shoes, please. He has a busy day ahead of eating and not debating. :)
DeleteAccording to the Jackson County website, 10% of all homes in Jackson County are already abandoned. Little Detroit.
ReplyDeleteAnd every time someone walks away, the other homeowners will be required to pick up their property tax burden.
this 123GO reminds me of the drunks in my family. Sometimes you have to let them hit bottom. This Council and Sly James cannot be trusted. Lets vote no--we can do better.
ReplyDeleteReady the people ready run the city all live joco
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteGood point, 9:29. But how do we stop the drunken Council from constantly borrowing from every project to pay for something else we would never vote for?
Just.Say.No.
ReplyDeleteCostshifting is apparently legal. Borrowing from the funds as they accumulate is legal. The poor naive pet shelter people don't get it. The City has bills to pay. they must raise property taxes. If #3 passes, they will borrow that money for years for immediate needs. No way to stop it as long as sneaky Glorioso, who taught Kay Barnes how to do that, is coaching Sly James and his clown college...
Just.Say.No.
Attacking Tracy Thomas for reading a radio spot for a man who paid for the spots is like being mad at Janie from Milgram if your carton of milk is curdled. Misplaced anger. Or you're too damn dumb to connect the dots.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the women in your life. Or did they leave you??? And now you just wake up angry and post troll comments on Tony's site???
The real question is: is the radio copy correct? And will you tell your friends to vote NO?
Such a shame the media didn't find someone to interview that isn't a nutball.
ReplyDeleteWhen you can't dispute the information, you go after the person delivering it.
ReplyDeleteJon Stephens is one of the most vocal pro-bonds, pro-streetcar, pro-hotel, pro-single terminal, pro-tax guys out there. I believe he lives in Leawood.
So just how much spending in each district ? Does downtown benefit the most or the eastside ? Will the Northland receive their fair share ? These question need to be answered .
ReplyDeleteLike it or not, due the weird configuration of our Metro area, we all are affected by KCMO's decisions.
ReplyDeleteSomebody needs to get the truth out there and I could care less if it comes from someone who lives in Shawnee.
Trolley boy likes ad hominem attacks because he can never address facts.
ReplyDeleteIf Tracy's being from Shawnee discredits her, shouldn't trolley boy's Coffeyville roots disqualify him and everything he's ever said or done in Kansas City? Everyone knows that in order to express an opinion one must be born here and live within the city limits.
This Phillip Klein/Tracy Thomas radio spot exposes Sly's willingness to lie to the public. His bill is far weaker than the Paul Ryan failed health care bill that tanked last Friday. But you have to give it to Paul Ryan--he still talks to the public. Whereas Sly James refuses to debate.
ReplyDeleteI bet he's furious, that Glorioso set him up as the savior but now he will have to take the fall. This was supposed to be a million bucks of free positive publicity. In advance of him filing against Cleaver for Congress. Ooops! And now he's arguing with the City Manager over who decides the priorities and makes the lists.
Sly is a bigger thief and lyer than Karen McCarthy Benson! Remember when she was run out of Congress and tried to steal her desk??!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy is that when folks get elected, they start thinking they know better than the voters, and start moving money around to cover their debts like someone addicted to gambling?? Sly lies with a straight face and a big ass smile--nice seeming guy-- until he got his hands on our wallets. I don't trust a thing he says now.
So Steve Glorioso didn't spend a dime of that $860,000 plus on radio or TV? I guess he didn't want the general public to know about the election next Tuesday, is that it?
ReplyDeleteGlad Kline paid to tell us the truth. Also glad about Dave Helling.
So how come Kraske didn't challenge the Mayor yesterday? He's on the STAR editorial board. Did Glorioso buy off his boss? With full page ads in the STAR that will run Sunday and Monday???
ReplyDeleteDuh, Columbo 2:14!!!! Follow the money. The City abated the property taxes on the STAR's glass building. AND they may protest and lower them for 1729 Grand which the STAR is now selling for condos. Kraske is just dancing with the ones that brung him.
ReplyDeleteKraske hasn't thrown a hardball since he was on the back bench in Little League.
ReplyDeleteTracy, Steve Kraske is not like you. He plays nice in the sandbox--he's not gonna jeopardize being on KCUR. Or hurt their funding from Sly's rich friends. Nor is he going to risk being able to book the Mayor for an interview in the middle of the morning when guests who are in power are usually too busy to drop what they're doing to go be on NPR. Notice how he's very deferential to elected officials. He practically bows when he greets them.
ReplyDeleteNot like you, Tracy! You kick ass and take names. That's what I like.
Isn't it kinda late to run spots so close to the election? What about advance voters who fell for the crap in the brochures?
ReplyDelete2:46, you stupid ninnie--Missouri does not have advance voting like they do in Kansas. If this had been on a ballot in Joco, where you probably live, or KCK, 40% of the votes would already be in.
ReplyDeleteSly must be furious. He thought Glorioso was delivering him the to Promised Land, frequent voters who believe anything "newsish"...until Dave Helling tracked down the seething City Manager who 'splained it to him.
pretty soon you won't be able to use a missouri drivers license to board an airplane.
ReplyDeletewill you still be able to use it to vote?

ReplyDeleteWhere will Sly's watch party be? I want to see him cry. NO FREE payments on the trollycar.
ReplyDeleteIs it a sponsored party, with open bar and all that?
