TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY OUTRAGE AGAINST MAINCOR AMID THRIFTWAY DEMISE!!!
The recent shut down of a Midtown Kansas City grocery store inspires more frustration among small biz owners regarding the sordid subject of Community Improvement District (CID) management.
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY INSIDERS RAGE AGAINST MAINCOR AMID THE DEMISE OF THE LONGSTANDING MAIN STREET THRIFTWAY!!!
A bit more background . . .
"The Main Street Corridor Development Corporation (MainCor) is "the champion and leading community partner of Kansas City's Main Street Corridor working to support commercial, mixed use and residential progress and effective community, economic and aesthetic development that create and encourage the renewal and vitality of Midtown."
However . . . The demise "The Westport Thriftway" has called their mission statement into question . . .
Here's the word . . .
"Westport Thriftway forced out after decades of service to the neighborhood. Forced out by one of the three trustees charged with insuring the well-being and success of the 39 Main Business Center which is failing under their leadership. This group has the responsibility to protect the hundreds of thousands of dollars of tax money and private funding invested in the 39th and Main Business District. All of this wile MainCor looks after its employees pay and not only allows this to happen but also helps to facilitate it under the disengaged oversight of its Board of Directors."
Quick look at the scene this morning was desolate and even the Thriftway sign was stripped away . . .
And once again, taxing districts in Kansas City are creating controversy and FAIL to live up to so many expectations and promises given to neighbors and small biz.
Developing . . .
CID, TDD, TIF = Kansas City rip off alphabet soup
ReplyDeleteKale salad bar coming soon?
DeleteThat Thriftway was the only game in town for many years. We talk about food deserts but we've got that store closing along with the Apple Market.
The era of the grocery store is over in KC.
I don't see any replacements coming up. Hopefully they'll keep building starbucks.
Better have good security!!! Murder within 2 months. Any takers?
ReplyDeleteOwners of the building live in Mission Hills. Probably want to dump the building for a nice profit.
ReplyDeleteLet me guess taxpayer subsidized market rate box apartments will go in there.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget the Westport 14 story box apartments was proposed and is being pushed through before the toy choo choo extension has been voted on.
Main cor has punk Ass employees who ride up and down main street looking for someone drinking in public. I say get rid of their fake Barney Fife wannabe asses.
ReplyDeleteFor real, red shirt cocksuckers haggled me when I sitting down , like I'm some vagrant
ReplyDeleteStreetcar will create new development.
ReplyDelete^^^ In Johnson County.
ReplyDeleteDamn - Now the boons will have to drive elsewhere to shoplift.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info now I'go down to At 43rd@main.
DeleteIt's gonna' make a great Cowboy Bar!
ReplyDeleteWhy would any sane business owner continue to operate in crime-ridden KCMO? Answer- they wouldn't. Tough shot for the hoodrats.
ReplyDeleteKC is in desperate need of an independent audit of all the TIFs, CIDs and the rest of the taxpayer ripoffs.
ReplyDeleteAnd city hall ain't gonna do it.
Professional protesters should be borrowed and used to protest City Hall.
ReplyDeleteUntil a business person is hired- KC has no chance.
Make way for Johnson County International Airport and thank Trump for putting KCI out of its misery.
That Thriftway was smelly, expensive, and run by very rude people. It depended on students from the Art Institute and other people in the neighborhood who didn't have access to transportation to decent stores. Nostalgia may eventually make people long for its return, but you'll have to give people a few years to forget how awful that place was.
ReplyDelete^^^ That's still better than nothing.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the truth^^^^^ Niggers will never have a nice place. ^^^^^^^^
ReplyDeleteYour Ass has a place for myself foot.
DeleteMain Cor is a weight around the neck of residential property on both sides of Main Street. They collect $400.00 a year from single family residents for trash clean up. No resident got to vote on their right to leve taxes. Oh yea I forgot it is not a TAX it is a self imposed payment.
