TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! CITY COUNCIL DOUBTS PREZ TRUMP WILL ENFORCE ADA REGULATIONS DOMINATING UPCOMING KANSAS CITY $800 MILLION GO BOND VOTE!!!
On the face of it, working to bring Kansas City into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 is at the core of $800 MILLION worth of general obligation bonds which Mayor Sly & Co. are attempting to sell to the voting pubic in April . . . Never mind that's just a ruse in order to secure a blank check to spend on hotels, toy trains and pet projects . . . For a moment, let's consider the reality of ADA rules & regs amid the incoming Prez Trump Administration.
To wit . . .
CITY HALL INSIDERS TELL US THEY DOUBT PREZ TRUMP REALLY CARES ABOUT KANSAS CITY ADA COMPLIANCE!!!
Here's just a bit of mainstream media news sources to back up this behind the scenes talk of the President's commitment to freeing Americans from government constraints and/or enforce laws already on the books . . .
NY Daily News: Trump kicks off first week in office with exec orders on trade and vows to cut regulations by '75%, maybe more'
VOA News: Trump Touts Executive Orders, Preparation for Health Care Repeal After First Week
The Hill: Trump's regulatory freeze goes further than Obama's
And so, cruel as it might seem . . . The ADA compliance push for an EPIC GO BOND SELL might be misguided given the decidedly anti-regulatory tone of this administration.
Fact is, the only thing people really seem to be excited about is a desperately needed animal shelter.
Let's not forget that Councilman Quinton Lucas was successful in breaking up the Mayor's GO Bond package and Council Lady Heather Hall has already posed a great many questions about transparency throughout this process.
In the final analysis, what public opposition and behind the scenes doubts from Council really signals is that Mayor Sly confronts an even greater loss of support from his colleagues at City Hall when attempting to sell this massive debt to Kansas City.
Developing . . .
the potholes are going to be YOOOOGE!
ReplyDeleteIf we were really going to spend the money on making things more accessible that would be great. But this money will just be thrown away on remodeling the Mayor's office and hiring more staff.
DeleteThat's why I'm voting no.
some of the ADA rules are crazy to enforce on KCMO's 100 year old city buildings. Just doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe ONE single word coming out of the mouth of Sly James and his lackeys at this point.
ReplyDeleteTotal FAIL!
People are sick of parasitic, low-life welfare scum, driving escalades and talking on the newest I Phones to their thug buddies and baby-mammas.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who doesn't love dogs should be executed forthwith. People who hate dogs, are not just untrustworthy, sub-human filth, but an excrescence on humanities ass. Lance the boils off of our collective asses by spending money on dogs, not thugs.
Here is hoping for 200 inner city murders this year.
is the mayor a robot? everything he does seems like a suit acting out in a predictable, linear, non-original manor.
ReplyDeletehe looks like a leader but doesn't really do much but go through the motions in a mechanical way.
i keep waiting for the leader to break out but it's not happening.
so why not use an ai bot instead?
Let's be very clear... insiders acknowledge that most of the *00 million is destine to feed the political corruption machine, EDC, developers, former City politicians and their friends and donors, Civic Council power people who bleed the revenue out of our city (but live in Johnson County and elsewhere). That is why specifics are never provided, and shell corporations are always formed to receive contracts to hide their names. That is also who there is little to no public bidding on anything done through EDC. The FBI should open their eyes to the fraud and corruption in KC government. Council members should insist on details and specific details of everything presented to them by the City management. Their vagueness is a deliberate cover to get the council to authorize funds to support political corruption.
ReplyDeleteGosh! A libtard mayor and folks have to worry about ADA being implemented? Sounds like that would be a problem requiring Trump to resolve? Hmmmmmmm!

ReplyDeleteNailed it
This is a bond deal. The SEC needs to get involved not the FBI. Didn't we pass an ADA
ReplyDeleteBond deal several years ago????
The more you people rant, the more you sound like KCK. The same people running Holland are running puppet boy Sly. They're laughing all the way to their banks in the Cayman Islands. When the focus on the bond issues are 'for you're safety', you should know by now you're going to get screwed. Higher taxes, less services for more money, re-modeling city hall offices and pet facilities fit for kings.
ReplyDeleteCame across the river and look at our plush mayors office, expensive pet facilities and crumbling dangerous neighborhoods. With the exceptions of where they live in the gated, fenced and armed body guarded areas. Good luck, we'll need it.
James and the lackeys at 12th and Oak will run what ever in front of the taxpayers to get this passed. They would promise free ice cream from the ice cream man on Mondays and Thursday if he thought if would make you pass the issue at hand.
ReplyDeleteI love animals have them myself but if the animal situation in Kansas City is of the nature that a tens of millions of dollars are needed to deal with the issue maybe dealing with to many wild running loose animals would be a better solution. Stiffer fines on those who fail to look after their pets. Which to be honest I doubt would work since the fools can't even raise their kids right.
If you folks think that 26 years later the city is suddenly all concerned about being in compliance with the ADA Act that was put into effect back in 1990 you have demonstrated that the general IQ of the voters in Kansas City Missouri is some where around 4. Those who didn't vote I'd think would wake up and go, "WTF, have I allowed to let happen all because I'm to fucking lazy to stand in line for a few minutes to cast a vote."
All the comments, one after another, are on the mark and are based on DECADES of similar bait-and-switch, incompetent, insider dealing, upside-down prioritizing, and outright illegal behaviors of the cast of characters at 12th and Oak.
ReplyDeleteThere is a class of D-list celebrity politico wannabes and, although the most prominent names may occasionally change, most of the names simply drift from one publicly-funded organization to the next...from elected, to appointed, to ineffectual nonprofit, and to corporations which have benefited from special deals.
And the insider appointments to various agencies and boards follow the same sorry routine.
Track records of accomplishment, competence, ability, or expertise are rarely if ever, in the mix of required "qualifications".
It's gone on for decades and there is no indication that anything is about to change.
KCMO: The sucking chest wound of the metro. Everything and everybody gets dragged down.
Except that disabled people can sue - and win - anytime over the lack of ADA-compliant facilities.
ReplyDeleteSo for that reason buildings are brought into compliance.
And yet another baseless tiresome attack on the city fueled by imaginary "City Hall insiders" is easily demonstrated to be just that.
Your reading comprehension is weak. The compliance issue is a mask for a deep and pervasive system of local bad government. Where it is not corrupt it is incompetent, and often both at once.
Deleteoh yes the many investigations, arrests and convictions of city officials proves your point 11:33!!
DeleteCould you go ahead and list all of them just for the record?
Opening your eyes is widely considered an excellent investigative tool. Doing so shows what this blog consistently points out: a civic administration empty of anything but greed. A city in need of solutions and leadership.
DeleteBy your logic, no murder exists until someone is charged. Excellent. Look, accountability is coming. No matter how many shills like yourself attempt to cloud issues.
Working on Sunday! That's good shoeshine service to the mayor. Enjoy that career path. ,)
Protests as we speak at KCI. Something about immigration.
ReplyDeleteThat's why he was elected.
Should take a page out of the 60's and burn their bras and panties...
11:19, I have understood that existing structures were exempt from the ADA unless material modifications were made, in which case the buildings must be made compliant.

ReplyDeleteWhat did President Trump say, when asked to name the first thing that came to mind when hearing the phrase "Americans With Disabilities"?
Answer: The Kansas City Star Editorial Board!!!
2:32, I believe those are called inabilities, not disabilies.
ReplyDeleteStop The Loot Stop The Legacy. #NOSLY17
ReplyDeleteIf the regulatory-loving Obama administration didn't enforce this supposed noncompliance with the ADA, why would the Trump administration?
ReplyDeleteTrump Mania
ReplyDeleteTonys kansas city has more breaking news than the STAR they check and recheck and the insider comments keep it rocking Tony
