Even the critics of KCK Mayor Holland have to be impressed by his recent EPIC fundraising . . . As the newbie politico isn't afraid to sing for his supper or tap dance for campaign cash . . .
His latest campaign finance report reveals that the KCK honcho has been busy raising a lot of money . . .
He's up more than $50K after what must've been an exhausting round of political asking . . . Hidden in the report is a curious entry from the YMCA.
With that, TKC TIPSTERS send us chapter and verse suggesting this is a NO-NO . . . Let's not forget that Mayor Holland has been strident in his advocacy for the Downtown YMCA in KCK.
Still . . . Campaign finance is a tricky biz and these forms are always being amended.

ReplyDeleteLess than a month after it was announced that the 8th Street YMCA would close on April 12, the Unified Government Board of Commissioners tonight voted to keep the facility open for a year.
According to the UG agenda, up to $10,000 a month will be paid to the YMCA in order to pay costs associated with keeping the building in operation.
"We are grateful to the Unified Government for their financial investment so that together we can continue to serve the Kansas City, Kan., community," said YMCA of Greater Kansas City President David Byrd. "It is our hope and intent to work with the Unified Government toward a long-term solution."

A nice office and perks are hard to give up. $500,000 a year to KCPD for his security detail, firefights sick from working in toxic buildings, unfair property assessments, and ridiculously high taxes. Santa Mark went around in 2016 asking what all the good kids wanted with our $12 million "windfall", knowing most KCKFD facilities are beyond FUBAR!!!

And, why is the LEED certified former EPA bldg. at 5th & Minnesota not occupied by the BPU, or veteran's apartments, or S O M E S U C H ??? What a sensible and shining example for the BPU to relocate to an energy efficient structure. They frequently enclose brochures in our monthly bills with recommendations for efficiencies in appliances, prudent water consumption, power-line safety, plus dig-safe reminders. So, BPU, be good resources stewards, and lead by example.
Unfortunately I don't see any one that can beat him. The only one that might of had a chance has pissed just as many people off as him. So we r just stuck with this shithead!

ReplyDeleteYeah, redesign the BPU offices into a YMCA, or put the Y in the former EPA spot with apartments above. Maybe those Trump brothers could make it GREAT again, or, at least get some tax/insurance/lease revenues and jobs back in that empty EPA structure.
ReplyDelete2:34 you apparently haven't lived here long to know the BPU was the major reason the EPA blew Dodge the second the lease was fulfilled. BPU's scams and lying under oath cost the Feds (tax payers) millions. Of course, no one in the media told the full story. You know the fear of finding a bloody horse head in your bed may have been a factor.

For a guy who publicly prayed for the demise of our President-elect, running for another term with the Demwit party seems appropriate. Hopefully the fed funds he has pocketed for providing safe spaces for the cupcake and snowflake generations will dry up a bit. We shall see.
