Like it or not, Alonzo Washington is advocating cooperation with police and helping people stand up against street killers by providing tips. Meanwhile, a lot of what we've heard from City Hall funded groups involves gun control and the eternal quest for more federal funding for a myriad of social service groups.

If you added the money from the feds, state, county, city, foundations, corporations, and individuals spent on "anti-crime" nonprofits and programs in KCMO together, you'd find that each and every year for decades, hundreds of millions disappear with virtually no results or accountability.

No leadership, scrutiny, oversight, engagement, or accountability.

ReplyDeleteCops aren't doing the job. They can't. Most of them are from suburban areas and "just work the beat" and go home. We've already spent millions rebuilding police stations and providing the police department with "tools" that they claimed they needed only to be followed up by one of the most deadly years in the history of Kansas City. Based on population, we don't really need more cops. We need effective cops. Cops that care and don't see minorities as just those "other" people or worse...not people at all. They need more training on diversity and dealing with other ethnic groups but they also need to not be bullies, which a large majority are. That's not policing...or helpful.
