TKC FRIDAY FAIR WARNING: BLACK ICE MATTERS!!! KANSAS CITY DRIVER SEYZ MODOT CAUGHT WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN DURING I-29 TRAFFIC DISASTER!!!
Right now Kansas City Northland highways are a treacherous hot mess amid black ice on highway and EPIC traffic games.
To wit . . .
THANKS TO OUR BLOG COMMUNITY FOR THIS EXCLUSIVE REPORT FROM THE SCENE THAT ISN'T AFRAID TO CALL OUT A BELEAGUERED MISSOURI DEPARTMENT!!!
Here's the word . . .
"I-29 is a parking lot nearly all the way to St. Joe. I've seen cars overturned, a lot of people pulled over the side of the road. A few flips. It's definitely slow going out here and really dangerous. Worst of all, driving up this way I didn't see one salt truck and on the way back there was maybe one. It looks like MODOT got caught with their pants down and they really weren't prepared for this bad weather that we knew about all week."
This year there has been an ongoing debate about funding and right now streets North of Kansas City make the case that more cash for MoDOT should be a priority.
Developing . . .
Build a streetcar?
ReplyDeleteThat's usually always the solution from KC officials.
We need to get right out there and set up a DUI check.
ReplyDeleteLady called Fox 4 news and she had moved about a half mile in 4 hours. Who knows how much longer she'll be there.

ReplyDeleteEverybody knows Black Ice Matters refuse to cooperate with authorities!
940 for the Win ^^^**
ReplyDeleteI don't see any of you calling me about it. But if you want to sing my praises personally call me at the St. Joe office. Just ask for the Mizzou genius who works the Stoplights in St. Joe. You're right that I deserve a pay raise and a Nobel Prize for my genius.

That's $100 of your state tax dollars. Read it and weep, Internet trolls.
Proof that we Mizzou grads are more important than the rest of you and get what we want from the state. Not surprising since over half the state employee work force, my intellectual genius self included, is Mizzou grads.
FACT :
ReplyDeleteat 1pm I left to head to Saint Jo, right up I-29
by 2pm,, I headed back to KC, the country state roads were already slick to be expected,,,,,
The main problem is , as usual, is PEOPLE who don't have any common sense and can't drive in the 1st place !
All those Clueless 4 - Wheelers with their $30,000 & $40,000 SUV's and Trucks and AWD / All Wheel Drive SUV's, actually think, that gives them ability to be able to drive faster and get better Traction, than anybody else = WRONG !!!!!!!!
Those Clueless 4 Wheelers actually believe they have some super out of this world ability to be able to drive 70mph or faster on Slick Roads, better than the other vehicles,,,,,
whatta think happens when they fish tail, lose control of the High Dollar SUV ???
They PANIC & SLAM on their brakes and slide and crash & wreck all over the place, like outta control hockey pucks on steroids !!!
They have NOT aclue about slowing down, on ice and most are so ignorant & clueless they don't even know or can tell when its icing up and slick out !
Check the back of your mirrors while driving, roll down your window, run your finger across the back of the mirrir - also if your review mirror has a Temp Display sensor built into it, look at it see what it reads - if it reads 32* or lower,, chances are the pavement is even COLDER and beginning to freeze up, with the colder air blowing across the pavement !!! Means SLOW DOWN use caution !
Bridges will FREEZE UP Faster,,,,,
LOTS of Accidents blocking the HI-WAYS & Roadways means HI-WAYS DOT Crews can NOT get thru the Traffic Jams to treat the roads, because of all the Naïve, Dimwit, Clueless ignorant, arrogant 4-Wheelers who are cocky & arrogant and clueless with their driving skills !
Driving 60mph to 70+mph FASTER THAN EVERYBODY else just because, shows your ignorance & Stupidity !
The Fact that some of YOU have 4 Wheel Drive & SUV's with AWD / All Wheel Drive - does NOT automatically make you a better driver, or a Skilled Driver, or mean your going to get around any better than anyone else - or be able to STOP your vehicle on SLICK ICE than anybody else !
Heres a CLUE, that's held true for years -
RUBBER and ICE don't mix , especially when it comes to Stopping !
Think about that real hard, you'll figure it out, maybe ??????
Bad driving is bad driving. Don't blame MODot.
ReplyDeleteModot or Kdot- both could have helped motorists out by pre-treatment of roads. Did they? We need transparency and answers immediately. Of course they are humans and make mistakes- but this was colossal. Do they have weather advisory committees? Does anyone monitor on weekends during heavy vacations? Who is in charge during these times? Was there a meeting Friday morning to discuss weekend coverage or a plan to get roadways treated? How comfortable is upper management with the chain of events and media coverage of Friday's Comedy of Errors and Blunders? It's not like the temperature was below zero and treatment of roads was impossible. Should officials be allowed to have a normal Saturday? Should there be a top leadership meeting Saturday morning to fact find and prevent this debacle from happening again? Is there a local team comprised of MoDot and KDot leadershipthat collaborates to make the best decisions for public safety? Transparency is needed. If this is the best all the players could do- then perhaps we need new players. If not- what's the plan for next time?
ReplyDeleteLet the protests begin...
ReplyDeleteNever mind MoDOT, KCMO is doing their usual crap job on city streets. Wornall this morning is a toboggan run of slick ice. Over in Kansas, they made some attempt to pre-treat roads ahead of the ice. WTF!
ReplyDeleteKDOT doesn't have the funds to be proactive. But that is what Kansas voters wanted when they elected people to financially break the state so suffer fools. You deserve every miserable moment of your troubles.
ReplyDeleteWinter in America.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to hear all the criticism. I wonder how many of the critics have perfectly clear driveways and sidewalks today. I am guessing it is somewhere around 0-5%. Funny how we can fail at maintaining a 30 yard sidewalk and criticize city and state departments that have to maintain hundreds of thousands of miles off roadway. Then, throw in a million or so drivers that don't practice common sense and we'll blame the public departments. Well played critics. You are strong and powerful. Keep it up. Oh, and get off you computers and do something constructive.
