Show-Me Missouri State Rep. Randy Dunn Vs. Kansas City Candidate Derron Black Alleged Sign Stealing Court Date Coming Soon . . .
We've said it before and we'll say it every election cycle . . . Debates over campaign sign stealing are the absolute lowest form of local political discourse.
Battles over yard signs are more personal than political given that most campaign placards are temporary, cheap and easy to replace . . . Most importantly, given all the rising crime, violence and homicide which Kansas City confronts . . . Sign stealing enforcement shouldn't be a priority or even a concern for the police or local courts.
Sadly, here's a shared social media look at Missouri's 23rd District House Rep. STILL making a very big deal of alleged campaign sign theft following his election victory.
More than anything this is a WASTE of everyone's time but still an important display of neighborhood political pettiness in Kansas City. To be fair, Rep. Dunn made his case for sign stealing effectively in a TV story during the campaign and the box cutter aspect of the alleged theft seemed to shake up the incumbent.
But the election is over, Rep. Dunn won this contest EASILY and what we're seeing in the aftermath is a great many of 23rd District constituents frustrated that petty politically motivated accusations could threaten a grassroots candidate.
An upbeat spin . . . Rep. Dunn would do well to extend an olive branch in this instance, mend fences with opposition and make sure one of his constituents isn't unduly persecuted for "stealing" a worthless piece of paper.

Gawd. Randy Dunn is a pussy. Jesus. It's not enough that he won and the folks over at Freedom Inc, who support him have done far worse. Grow up.

ReplyDelete^^^That's the trouble. Dunn's supporters are far more unscrupulous than mere sign stealing. They've done no time and continue to get away with it. Meanwhile, Dunn as a state legislator, hasn't done anything worthwhile in his position. I can't support a person as corrupt as Dunn and advocate for a good guy like Black to be strung up on charges that really shouldn't be a priority in Dunn's lackluster career.

ReplyDeleteI didn't assign any blame. I pointed out that Dunn's supporters have done much worse. It's an aside, background, if you will. That information matters. Obviously, it had no bearing on Black's guilt or innocence but does offer perspective. Dunn's attempt to cast others as corrupt is overshadowed by the deeds of his supporters and handlers.

DeleteClassic do as I say, not as I do. Dunn has people on his behalf steal signs and whatever else, now he wants to prosecute others for doing the same thing. You can't be on both sides. Either its wrong and you're against this sort of thing; or you're all for it. Dunn is clearly all for it. If there is a suit, its personal pursuit of a vendetta, nothing professional about it.
ReplyDeleteSign stealing is a recurring problem that is the tip-of-the iceberg for the dishonesty and corruption of some candidates. There is a consequence to having thieves in office. A sign stealer in office will steal from the taxpayers.

ReplyDeleteI'll admit that the situation is quite ignorant (typical black discourse). However, Dunn did not run a clean campaign nor has he ever. Evidence is that he holds the office. A previous commenter suggests that his ascendency was by hook or crook. I tend to agree with that notion. If a spotlight is cast, its cast on everything.
Why don't they settle this like adult black men. Get out the guns and start shooting.

It's not like either one of these folks are brilliant thinkers. One is a coattail rider. The other is a bit of a renegade (that's not necessarily a bad thing). Successful politicians are merely convincing liars. I don't believe a word from Dunn. He'll have to show proof and even then, I'd think he manipulated it.
