The latest cover of The Pitch failed to resonate or rate any mention among Kansas City news readers despite its provocative imagery.

As of late The Pitch has fallen on hard times with a loss of nearly all of their most popular writers along with an increasing reliance on syndicated content. This week a paltry 30 pages of mostly local bar ads was all the publication could muster in support of their eye-catching cover. Make no mistake, we love The Pitch here at TKC and it's hard for us to watch it fall apart under leftover leadership and a few freelancers.

After a weekend of protest on the streets of Kansas City, it's surprising that the last few people aboard The Pitch couldn't put together at least an op/ed regarding the subject of their lead image.

Then again . . . We could be jumping to conclusions as we interpret the front page. The upside down flag is also a used as a symbol of dire distress for a ship desperately looking for help. Given the hodgepodge of stale content, fewer advertisers and less interest in local issues . . . The cover could signify the exigent situation at Kansas City's top ranking alternative print publication.
