TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY COUNCIL REJECT EFFORT TO CENSURE MEMBER ALISSIA CANADY AFTER KCPD TOWING CONFRONTATION!!!
Last week, Kansas City Friday night video revealed 5th District Council Lady caught on camera in a confrontation with KCPD officers over the towing of her car that wasn't tagged properly and the reaction from many local residents has been EXTREME OUTRAGE and a call for an official rebuke.
Apparently, many locals weren't appeased by the Council Lady's next day apology to those who were offended along with a call to examine police practices and towing policy.
Here are a few reactions . . .
"She should be arrested and Jean should fire her and she should be removed from the ethics committee. What a joke, anyone else would have been arrested. Great representation of your job as a council person . . "
"The Mayor has to remove her from the Ethics and Public Safety Committees . . ."
"Poor decision making for a public servant. What did she expect in driving with expired plates and confronting and arguing with law enforcement doing their job.
"Wow, such disrespect for the rule of law. She should be removed from office immediately and ethics complaints filed against her with the State Bar Association.
"With leadership who disregards reasonable deadlines (paying taxes and fees) and disrespects authority (police doing their job) It's no wonder there hasn't been ANY effective measures taken to reduce the lawlessness in KC that has resulted in the record high murder rate."
And now . . .
THERE IS A GRASSROOTS MOVE ASKING FOR A FORMAL CENSURE OF COUNCIL LADY CANADY BUT THAT EFFORT HAS BEEN PUT DOWN BY HER COLLEAGUES AND NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS HAVE BEEN TOLD IT WILL NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY!!!
Here's the word . . .
"My council person was extremely friendly but she told me not to bother when I asked her about how to circulate a petition. Apparently, the council wants to bury this abuse of authority and they would like the story to go away instead of recognizing there is a problem here . . . I'm going to continue to my effort but it's unfortunate that ethics are such a low priority right now among our council members."
On the bright side, this smack down reveals a good working relationship among members of council who are at least looking to protect one another in the face of an ongoing media firestorm.
