Kansas City Insiders wanted to make our blog community aware of a significant "shuffling of the deck" at one of Kansas City's most influential urban core political action committees.
Accordingly . . . Insiders note Rodney Bland is set to earn a spot on the Freedom, Inc. Leadership Team on Thursday taking over a vacancy left by Urban League President Gwen Grant.
Mr. Bland will join Sen. Kiki Curls and Dr. Gayle Holiday in his new leadership role.
As always, word of political change-ups evoke criticism when they make their way to TKC and Mr. Bland's new position has some urban core denizens contending that the "usual suspects" are simply being recycled into leadership positions rather than the group focusing on developing new talent. To be fair, let's remember that Mr. Bland directed Freedom, Inc. resources in an overwhelmingly successful Earnings Tax Renewal campaign and the landslide victory seems to have propelled him to the leadership team.
This news is important for ALL of Kansas City's political denizens given that Freedom, Inc. continues their urban core resurgence and has successfully navigated the local political scene in order to maintain and tout a mostly winning record amid recent election cycles.
Developing . . .
Landslide with about 3% of the voting population voting in the election. That's a stretch of the facts dontcha think?
ReplyDeleteYou missed your 'credit where it's due' line TKC.
ReplyDeleteFreedom was smart to support the etax and work with Mayor James.
They could have taken Rex Sinquefield's easy money but listening to their constituents was the right thing to do and ultimately proved successful.
Sad but most of this is over the head of your readers who only know about kc politics from what they can remember in the 5 minutes of news on TV.
The FBI should put Bland in prison for bribery and extortion. Clinton Adams along with him.
ReplyDeleteUsing the words "leadership" and "Freedom Inc" in the same sentence is criminal abuse of the English language.
ReplyDelete"Grifte" and "shakedown" come more readily to mind.
What a burden for east side residents to have to bear all these years.
Freedom Inc. ilk. Freedom Inc. doesn't have constituencies. They are neither elected nor hired by anyone from within the Black community. They're followers are a dying breed.
ReplyDeleteConstituent means part of a whole, as in "we'll break this down into its constituent parts." The word comes up often in political contexts: constituents are the people politicians have been elected to represent. To understand constituent, look at constitute, which means to make up.
1:27 is correct about one thing, some of your readers like to use or misuse words they don't understand. Thanks for sharing.
Bland is a wolf in sheeps clothing. More of the same, all are controlled by Clinton Adams. nothing to see here
ReplyDeleteLocal elections more and more will be a case of who can successfully court the black vote.
ReplyDeleteIn short, we are totally fucked.
Hahahaha!!! Dear God!!! Let the sexual harassment lawsuits roll!!
ReplyDeleteWho the hell is Mr. Bland?
ReplyDeletePart of the "LITTLEJOHN FOR SHERIFF" crew.
ReplyDeleteRodney Bland works as a lobbyist
ReplyDeleteRodney Bland is a small, fairly new organization in the business services industry located in Kansas City, MO. It opened its doors in 2014 and now has an estimated $62,000 in yearly revenue and approximately 1 employee

ReplyDeleteShould be City Halls new motto
Where did Gwen Grsnt go?
ReplyDeleteDo I still write the $7000 check to "Rodney Bland" before the board votes to buy the endorsement just like before?
ReplyDeleteGwen goes down.
ReplyDeleteMary Bland must be proud.
ReplyDeleteWe would have been smart to elect Littlejohn as Sheriff when we had the chance. Sanders is a no-count, petty, do-nothing moron. Littlejohn is a smart, capable cop with at least a modicum of political acumen and a sense of real-world policing.
ReplyDeleteFreedom can keep shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. No one under 85 gives a fuck what Freedom says.
^^Sanders should be Sharpe. Though it pretty much still applies. Jackson County is the kind of place that elects Frank White over Sherwood Smith, but I guess Sherwood gets the last laugh now that he runs all the fire fighters in the state and has Jeff City in the palm of his hand.

ReplyDeleteNobody under 85 years old gives a flaming bag of shit what Freedom, Inc. feels, thinks, believes, asserts, opines, characterizes, declares, etc. It's all worthless.
Democrat sleazeball Freedom Inc keeps their theme song -- Bob Marley's "Jammin"
ReplyDeleteonly - the change the lyrics to
"We be scammin"
No!
ReplyDeleteThe earnings tax would pass without the Freedom endorsement.
ReplyDeleteFor 50 years.s.s. we have been stuck with the same family members, nobody new. How low can we go?
ReplyDeleteFreedom, Inc. 50 years of bleeding a community until its dead. Take a look around any neighborhood on the Eastside. The results speak for themselves. School District failed. Neighborhoods mostly vacant. No businesses to speak of. Fifty years ago the Eastside of Kansas City was thriving. Now, it's a shell of it's former self and I can't help but believe these leeches had something to do with its failure.
ReplyDeleteJohn Bullard paid Rodney and still got fucked, when Tindall told the board what to do. Rodney did not give the money back.
ReplyDeleteBland, Curls, Holiday. Why does anyone give these career grifters the time of day?
ReplyDeleteWow, I was a Pleb...I put my book down to read this juicy tidbit, you scaly wag. Back to homework, unless you have more to cleanse the palate?
ReplyDeleteWhat ever happened to the NIGGER, that took the microphone away from the Mayor?? Wasn't he supposed to be a future leader of the NIGGERS??
