Unlikely economic data from Kansas City mainstream media claims that the Missouri side of the metro is winning long running economic border war. While this good news is welcomed, the screed isn't earning much celebration given that job growth in the urban core remains stagnant: Broken record on jobs: Yes, Missouri still beating Kansas in KC area

ReplyDeleteAnyone believe this? It's hard to take the Star seriously when everything they say goes against your own eyes.
ReplyDeleteGo on highways across the metro, go on 470 around 7AM and see all this cars go westbound to Kansas and very few go the other way to MO. Once again the Star editorial board makes up lies to bash Brownback. No wonder no one really reads the paper.
Expect for sports coverage there was no reason to buy one.
The Star still thinks they are successful after huge tax incentives from the City. Despite that, their parent company is in the toilet. I dont believe nor trust anything I see in The Star.
ReplyDelete9:52, there's a yuuuuuge morning rush from all points out of JoCo -- K10 to both 435 north through west KCK onto I70 eastbound, I35 northbound, Metcalf up to Shawnee Mission Pkwy. driving east, State Line northbound -- each going to all stops JaCo. Then all this reverses at 4:30ish Mon. thru Fri. except major holidays. Well, a few might grab a KC happy hour when those "certain cronies are courting", and wanting an occasional change of scenery from the links at Hallbrook.
ReplyDeleteSure, MO residents head into KS early a.m. for some of the jobs. Lots of that 7:00 a.m. 470 rush are those lucky kiddos being dropped off at KS private schools and daycares.
Add ^^^ 12:50, Sly said half the Etax is paid by those working in KC while not residing in MO. What is the trade in 1% compared to all those property tax revenues, shopping and entertainment dollars STAYING in KANSAS?
ReplyDeleteIts regrettable that some of Kansas City, MO's suburbs are in Kansas. But, these arbitrary, imaginary, invisible borders are historical, & therefore, important to you. That's too bad ...
ReplyDeleteLogic would organize the situation differently. The Greater Kansas City Area would be a part of neither state, but its own entity. I would do away with these imaginary 'counties' as well. They're redundant.
However, I would say that the probability of logic being applied to this as approaching zero.
Once again Byron said a bunch of crap that didn't make sense and largely said nothing.
ReplyDeleteThat's Bullshit , I know of at least 5 Companies that have moved out of KCMO since October of 2015.
ReplyDelete1 outfit vacated an entire office building near crown center in January and moved to Fairway Kansas !!
Liberal reporters faking the news as usual !!
The Star has grown so biased against Brownback that they don't even see how their mission against him shows through almost every piece the hacks write. It is absurd for any entity to make up its own criteria and then proclaim a winner based on thier bogus, made up comparisons.
ReplyDeleteFirst off we need to clearly define what comprises the Kansas City area. I'd love to see evidence that the metro area of KC has more viable jobs than on Kansas side if Johnson County is included.
Second it appears that the Star is using Obamanomics for their calculations as the Star obviously never looked at what the average wages are between the areas. Nor did the Star even attempt to demonstrate the number of job holders who actually pay income taxes.
Quality of jobs is another issue and I can guarantee if the job market was rosy on the Missouri side of the state line we would not be seeing dregs protesting for $15 per hour.
Just more libtard generated political bullshit with little to no substance. That Star again demonstrates what a powerhouse of reporting integrity they are NOT!
5 companies! OMG! Why didn't you say so, all the numbers must be made up because you know 5 companies!
