TKC MUST SEE!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY SINGS AND DANCES FOR HIGH SECURITY CIVIC ELITE CROWD AMID SHAMELESS 'STATE OF THE CITY' SPEECH 2016!!!

In a shameless and otherwise embarrassing move that was adored by tone-deaf middle-class white people comprising most of the crowd, Mayor Sly James sang 'Going To Kansas City' of at the conclusion of this year's state of the city speech.
There's a glut of coverage of this event but very little discussion or critical commentary.
The highlights . . .
- Mayor Sly promises airport action and hasn't mentioned anything but a new single-terminal that the public has overwhelmingly rejected.
- Outcry against Missouri SJR39 and alliance with the LGBT Community - Remember the Mayor has absolutely no legislative authority in this issue.
- Continued pitch for Earnings Tax renewal.
- Turn the Page - Reading program progress report - Again, this is actually one of the substantial and worthwhile efforts Mayor James has pioneered during his tenure. Double bonus for working in the Bob Seger reference.
- Singing and dancing for the delight of the crowd that's mostly on City Hall's payroll in one way or another.
TKC conclusion . . .
AMID A BUDGET CRISIS WHERE KANSAS CITY IS CONFRONTING THE LOSS OF 100 POLICE OFFICERS . . . MAYOR SLY PLAYS POLITICS, PROMISES MORE TAXES AND DANCES FOR THE CROWD!!!
To be fair, there was a solemn moment of dedication where Mayor Sly offered tribute for fallen firefighters. And this even was on SERIOUS LOCKDOWN . . . Even the daytime crowd earned intense scrutiny and a massive police presence just like our blog community reported FIRST.
But more than anything, the Mayor's and personality dominated the event . . .
"If I wanted to be loved every day, I would’ve opened a pet store. But I wanted to lead, so I ran for Mayor." - Mayor Sly James
And that was the theme for not only today but also the entire James Administration that has focused more on his cult of personality in pushing forward Kansas City corporate tyranny rather than any concern for local Democracy.

You decide . . .
Is that Steve Kraske playing bass in his band?
ReplyDeleteMore trash from the Mayor. More lies.
ReplyDeleteMore of the same for the people who are stupid enough to vote for the etax.
^^^ talk about lies.
ReplyDeleteWe WILL pass the earnings tax on April 5th and the Mayor will lead the way. He is the greatest real leader Kansas City has ever had in the past 30 years. Next stop. The senate.
Ah, yes, the true definition of "servant leadership" for KCMO electeds.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you going to run for next?
Sly's spent and borrowed gobs of tax money on creating his cult of personality and bought-off "followers", and the notion that he could successfully run for the US Senate in Missouri shows just how badly spiked the Kool Aid really is.
Embarrassing is too gentle a word.
When all else fails... do a jig and shuffle. LOL
ReplyDeleteI got 100 bucks that says the 70 percent of KC that isn't black will sit on their asses with the tv remote and let the E Tax pass
ReplyDeleteLyin' Sly James at his finest
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the mayor but I can assure you, he will see no parts of anyone's House/Senate unless you are talking Jeff City
ReplyDeleteHilarious that The Star reported on how the Mayors speech went at 10:59 AM this morning.
ReplyDeleteOne minute before it started.
Did Lyin' Sly talk about the amount of money families are forking out in subsidies to corporations that have doubled their profits and cut their taxes in half in ten years?
ReplyDeleteGive it up for Sexual Chocolate, ladies and gentlemen.
ReplyDeleteProbably didn't mention growth is headed back to the suburbs again and peak millennial growth has ended for urban cores and is now officially on the downswing.
ReplyDeleteOf course he has no plan for that either other then let the taxpayers pick up the bill for the billions in debt he'll run up before his term as Mayor expires.
No no no the trolley is going to attract millennial's from everywhere 4:34! And tourists too!
ReplyDeleteThe King Wears No Cloths by the sound of those high notes. People forget cellphones are not your friends when it comes to singing.
ReplyDeletemoved out of K C but can still vote from my old address. City hall not smart enough to know the diffrence. by by "E" tax
ReplyDeleteSing with me!
ReplyDeleteThe hills are alive with the sounds of sirens
The Great Nausea
ReplyDeleteCan anyone honestly deny that this administration needs to be kicked to the curb, stomped, water-boarded, and hung out to dry?
ReplyDeleteAnd to think you traded the Funk for this.
ReplyDeleteGloria's job outside Marks office was to keep the sharks, corporate miscreants, and taxpayer robber barons away.
ReplyDeleteShe did a good job while it lasted.
4:35 is right. The trolley will make every millennial in the bi-state area want to live downtown, the new hotel will not be big enough to hold all the visitors the trolley will bring to town, and we may have to build TWO new airports to handle everyone who will want to ride the 2.2 mile amusement park ride. Why the real estate and construction boom caused by all this activity will make the 1880s boom look mild by comparison!
ReplyDeleteKansas City: ready for any century but this one..
4:56 Good one +10
ReplyDeleteFunk Wins

People who rely on taxpayer cash for their livelihood are eager to fawn over the Mayor and reinforce the corrupt status quo.
Consultant and former Power and Light(Cordish) manager Jon Stephens goes gaga over the emperor's wonderful clothes!
Jean Peters Baker does double duty heaping flattery upon the emotionally insecure Mayor's ego.
County Executive Frank White and even Lee's Summit Mayor Rhoads feel it prudent to smile, praise, and not rock the boat, as they float in the same Gulf of Glad-Handing.
And what were most comments about? Taxes? Crime? KCMO debt? Failing infrastructure? No, no, no and no. A one-liner about a pet shop, and the Mayor's song and dance routine! That probably is a fairly accurate assessment of the true State of KCMO.
Get a life White people. Don't you have better things to tweet about like the ramrodded toy train.
