Let's put all this Kansas City news stuff in perspective . . . Budding online entrepreneurs should know that gamers and hip-hop enthusiasts attract a much bigger audience for local Internets denizens given that only reality TV star Donald Trump has really inspired people to vote in upcoming Presidential primaries out of love or hate or both.
And so, here's example the KCMO Internets future . . .
Consider Jordan Payton . . . An energetic yet fluffy and still very likable local dude who has amassed a virtual army of online followers to fuel his Internets winning.
He tops out over most local news stations and The Star on Twitter and will soon double their number of followers.
Fleshy selfies and video game clips power him toward 86k & counting on the Instagrams.
Even better . . . This gamer dude also has hip-hop skill and a Youtube fanbase of more than half a million.
Here's his latest freestyle rap offering . . .
So, we'll affectionately call him the Puffy Daddy Kansas City PewDiePie because his gamer LEGIQN moniker is a bit too ominous for somebody so seemingly happy and doing so well in dominating his niche in the online discourse.
Call all of this a primer for The Pitch/Ink/KC Mag/Whatever cover he'll soon snag with far too many words and maybe a couple of embarrassing deets & quotes from his "friends" who have already engaged in a few online beefs against him.
And so . . .
Like it or not, this guy is a Kansas City Internets power player and his winning ways deserve not only a bit of admiration but also an acknowledgement that THIS is the direction of Kansas City news and the content that younger generations want . . . Beyond even old school television "news" that rarely strikes a cord outside of loyal watchers who simply stick around by way of old "least objectionable program" media principles.
You decide . . .
The guy is set up for business. That's he's key to success.
ReplyDeleteWhat sucks is that he could teach all of these KCMO entrepreneurs real lessons about online content but instead they just run seminars that are the same circuit stuff that people get all over the nation. Paid speakers selling books that aren't even as experienced as others. They're all Seth Godin wannabes. That's KC tech for you.
^^^ Wrong. Tech in KC is just around so the mayor has a cheering section on twitter and facebook. Nothing besides.
