Kansas City Power & Light Building Illuminated Green For St. Patrick's Day

Tonight we take a late night/early morning look at a Kansas City landmark displaying the spirit of the season the week.

The Kansas City Power & Light Building is now another Downtown luxury living space but still a bit more fancy than most offerings inside the loop.

Also, this town is known for making a big deal out of St. Paddy's so the lights are appropriate . . .

While the parade is no longer Downtown . . . The illuminated landmark is a nice signal as to what tops the agenda for most Kansas City denizens who aren't locked into the political discourse.

Enjoy the pix, it was fun taking them. Hopefully, more even more good stuff for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!

  2. What time where these photos taken.

It doesn't seem like downtown is exactly bustling.

I know it's early in the week but for hundreds of millions of dollars you'd think that they'd throw a few drink specials to attract a crowd.

  4. Kansas city needs to be about more than pretty lights. We need infrastructure, services for our neighborhoods and support for our first responders. It's sad that so many people are just caught up in the big show going on Downtown from Trump to condos. There is more to Kansas City than that.

  8. Downtown to Brush Creek, from State one to Troost is 50% of the cities tax base but only receives 40% of its investment, including TIFs an tax incentives.

While the city is making "investments" in fancy wallpaper and new furniture, the foundation of the building continues to without any command attention at all.
85% of the metro residents don't live in KCMO, much less downtown, and most don't work there or see any reason to even visit except rarely and for special events.
And all the hype and "investments" of the last couple years make it even more inconvenient and pointless, not to mention the behavior and crime that continues.
Sly has spent and borrowed lots of money, loves the glow and applause of the political game, and is clearly hoping for big things for himself.
The taxpayers get the bill and decades of debt for projects that won't meet their financial objectives or ever create an "urban environment" that is the current fad.
And new run-down buildings, streetcars, kiosks, and all the rest are even worse than old. They will be eyesores much much longer.
    Frosty!
