Steve Rose Confounded By Donald Trump

This Dead Tree Media pundit doesn't know what to make of the man who has upended the political process and reveals serious divisions within the Republican Party. Checkit: Steve Rose: Donald Trump has wreaked havoc with my prediction and a whole lot else

  3. Mr. Rose, Trump is going to surprise a lot of people when he bankrupts Clinton's war chest and kicks her in the balls.

  4. Steve Rose and Craig Glazer are nincompoops of a feather.

  5. Of course he didn't realize how pissed off people are. Like most politico's he's totally clueless.

  6. Why in hell does anyone pay attention to Steve Rose?

  7. Idiocracy is coming true. We're headed back to the dark ages where anti-intellectuals rule the day and intelligent people will be mocked.

  8. I heard trump FICA speech today talking about how we have given away our jobs and factories. He keeps giving that speech and he will win. The whole country knows that free trade deals are screwing the workers here. Why union bosses don't see it amazes me

  9. I heard the same speech he gave today from Bentonville, AR.

He spoke of the recent Carrier layoff of 1500 or so US workers to move manufacturing to Mexico.

His solution was that he would solve the problem by taxing Carrier 35% to bring those A/C units back to the US.

The crowd went wild, seemingly actually believing that this was a viable, or even plausible solution.

It's pure idiocy, and he's tapped into a rich vein of it.

  10. 733. I get your point. I would truly like to hear anyone anywhere give an honest solution to this problem. Jobs use to be plentiful. But not for the last twenty years or so

  11. Best assessment I've read of Trump's meteoric rise has been Matt Taibbi's Rolling Stone article.

Yeah, I know RS generally blows, UVA rape scandal and other unsavory problems, but Taibbi is a fantastic writer.

  12. Just like he said he's going to make Apple bring all their jobs back or make Mexico build the wall. All the simpletons eat it up except the nobody, even the president, has the authority to do such a thing. How can anyone believe Mexico would actually build the wall? The ignorance in his fans is astonishing.

  13. It's truly reached the level of pro wrestling style speechmaking.

Fat oafs in ballcaps fist-pumping, high-fiving and guffawing right on cue.

Learn to grow your own food, and get to know your neighbors.

Countries in decline tend to gravitate towards a nationalistic, strong-man archetype of leadership.

Things are going to get weird in this country.

  14. There is a reason BMW located in Spartanburg, and it was not because the "poorly educated" workers are plentiful.

Check a map and research the distance to the Research Triangle and the shear numbers of educated people.

Rubes that hold a GED have little regard for higher education, but if you ever work with a site location firm for a major employer, a highly educated workforce is like critical. That, along with decent infrastructure and quality of life components. North Carolina is the example of getting it right. South Carolina has never figured out that tobacco and textiles are not coming back.

The Brownback model of low takes is the simpleton's understanding of 21 Century economics. If you have ever looked closely at taxes, they are a frigging marginal issue. It's not that far removed from the reality that the Park Hill and Liberty Districts are holding their own. Would anyone in their right mind put their kids in the Platte District, unless they had no choice?

Trump will do great in the Platte County District.

If you think the idea of the relationship between education and economic development is abstract or theory, soak up the economic prowess in this country 50 years ago when higher education was largely supported.

My politics are far removed from Lindsey Graham and Rand Paul. But the two of them know what the hell they are talking about.

Our 100 years as the economic center of the world is coming to it's final stage. The shear stupidity of the Trump supporters to buy his line is an sterling example of the need for a informed electorate.

  15. I love these anti Trump geniuses. The same types who swore Trump could never get the nomination and the same bunch that will swear he will never get elected and if he does everyone is stupid. Watch and learn ass holes.

  16. Lead article in the WSJ called "Unprotected" by Peggy Noonan -- showed how the privileged , "protected" rich-kids, like Steve Rose, or, Lewis Dikweed, or , say , Craig Glazer -- can't identify with the middle -class, and their concerns -

GREAT article, but, behind the WSJ paywall.

  18. It's time for certain candidates to quit the three stooges act and get back to serious issues. We've heard the schoolboy taunts all around, and now, hopefully, that's out of their systems (some really funny smackdowns, though).

Pundits warn that polls tell Americans want change in myriad ways. Not that same exact 'hope and change' as promised almost a decade ago by you know who. Respondents say let's be gone with the gridlock and gouging the middle-class. They're demanding a clamp down on open borders and ramped up opportunities for citizens and small business success.

SugarDaddy Bernie and Banksters' Best Barker Bud Hilly have been playing nicer by comparison. They're sweet talking their plans for big gifting all around. So, Dems appear to be whipping up to an Oprah's Favorite Things styled sweepstakes come November. All those blingy thingys to be paid for by 1%ers and Wall Street. Suuure.

Trump will win if his messages about economic security, illegal immigration and military strength are sensible. Moving toward alternatives away from rigid partisanship is his genius. America is great again for setting this new course.

  22. 10:50 Hispanics are like libtards. They want law, order and equality - just not imposed on them.

  23. Come late Spring/early Summer, the real fireworks will begin!!!

    TRUMP versus HILLARY......a death match!

Hillary neutralized her prosecution by the Justice Dept. by sending a Clinton apparatchik to kill Justice Scalia in remote Texas. Obama wishes to cement his legacy by appointing more Supreme Court justices than any recent President, and Hillary seized upon this desire to emerge once again largely unscathed from serious scandal.

Trump, if he survives, threatens to blow the lid on America's political ruling class' closet full of skeletons. He knows the truth about 9/11, Bush/Cheney War For Oil, Obama's background, the Clinton's degenerate history, and plenty more.

This election will likely come down to physical violence as there's so much at stake. The status quo ruling class will not relinquish power quietly.
