Jackson County Contender Brice Stewart Challenges Sheriff Sharp Amid Controversy

The political turmoil which has surrounded Jackson County might soon play a factor in an important upcoming election as recent scandal plaguing the Sheriff's office has now met with challenger.

Brice Stewart ran for Exec last time around, now he has his sights on the Sheriff's job after filing for the office this week.

Background on Brice Stewart . . .

NBC Action News: Jackson County employee suing sheriff for what he calls 'political retaliation'

Deets:

Brice Stewart filed the suit on Sept. 11. In it, he says he was removed from the sheriff’s office in retaliation for announcing his plan to run for sheriff in 2016.

"I made it very clear that I was going to run because basically I'm tired of it. I'm tired of it happening to me. I don't want it to happen to anyone in the future,” Stewart said.

In July, he was removed from his job at the sheriff’s office in Lee's Summit and told he would be working in downtown Kansas City. Stewart says the move would force him to pay additional taxes, extend his drive time and cause him to be late to his part-time job. Stewart said, "I have a family and I'm trying to support them and it would just be a financial hardship on me to have to go downtown." He says this is not the first time he has been targeted by county officials.

Now, Mr. Stewart doesn't have any significant funding or any endorsements BUT . . .

THE VERY FEW VOTERS WHO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE UNDERSTAND MANY RECENT FAILINGS WHICH COULD CONVINCE VOTERS TO FIND ANOTHER OPTION FOR LEADERSHIP!!!

Sure, it's unlikely that an outsider candidate will convince the last remaining voters to change their habits but the fact is that there's a Democratic candidate alternative to the status quo.

You decide . . .

  1. The Jackson County Sheriff and the Clay County Sheriff have a lot in common. They both need to be replaced.

  2. A couple years back, Harry Truman's grandson was in town for an event on the Independence Square. We were approaching a stop sign 2 blocks north of the Square. Sheriff Sharp was turning left off another street in front of us. He apparently didn't notice us at first, cut into our lane instead of making the nearly 45 degree turn. He saw us, and instead of correcting into his own lane, he exaggeratedly, rather slowly kept coming towards us forcing us to stop, maintaining eye contact with us the entire time. He was driving a dark-colored Dodge. We had the right of way the entire time. A totally bizarre encounter. All hail Emperor Sharp, apparently. Term limits for all, please, especially for Jackson County Sheriff.

  3. Frivolous Bullshit. Kansas City is in Jackson County. The sheriff has assignments in KC. Since when does being a bureaucrat entitle you to work close to your house if the employer needs you across town? If it is punishment or retaliation to expect an employee to work then our local government is really fucked up.

The idea that your employer should have consideration and accommodate your part time job is about the stupidest fucking claim I have ever heard. Believe it or not you are going to have a bitch of a time finding an employer that will sacrifice his mission so you can go work somewhere else for someone else.

Finally, your employer did not make your bills, marry into your family or agree to take on your financial obligations when you were hired. If you can not work a full time government job and pay your bills go file bankruptcy. I am either missing a hell of a lot of facts here or someone has been flying around with Tinker Bell.

If you think a few miles drive is a bitch, when you drive all day at work dude, try working for ATF or the Marshalls. This action has no fucking legs whatsoever.

  4. Isn't this the same dude running for an Independence City Council seat? We have ourselves a perpetual candidate here folks! He'll take anything, just PLEASE elect him to SOMETHING. He's not picky, he's desperate.

  5. I guess Brice will not be invited to the Sharp Sex Parties?

  6. Clay County Sheriff Vescovo has to be kicked out of office. From lawsuits against his management style to making money from deputies working for a private investigator, it seems that he is interested in lining his pockets rather than fighting crime.
