Just a quick peek at lower expectations this holiday season for Kansas City builders. A social media share on Twitter, FB, etc.
Take a look:
Kansas City Container Home Design
"For the past year I have been working on a project involving the use of storage containers to build a two bedroom, two bathroom single family home. I've met with local architects and engineers that have got it to the point where I can start building in the spring if I have all my ducks in a row.
"I currently have two lots reserved in the Martini Corner/Union Hill neighborhood that have given the green light for construction if I get the funding. Here is where I have run into my main problem.... I had an investor committed for the first six months of the project but then she had to pull out. I have spent the past six months taking every meeting I could get and talking to anyone that would listen to me. My problem is, I don't think I have been meeting with the right people. Everyone has been very interested and supportive but they haven't been in the market to make the kind of investment I need to succeed.
"The reason why I'm posting now is to hopefully get my idea seen by more eyeballs. If you know anyone in the construction business or an entrepreneur that might be able to point me in the right direction I would be ecstatic to sit and talk with them in any capacity."

Shipping box housing for the "creative class".
ReplyDeleteTalk about your diminishing returns on technology.
Folks that want to live in tiny house in the KC area will be taxed and coded to death.
ReplyDeleteHideous
ReplyDeleteno money to be made. Duh!
ReplyDeleteHow many cartoon dollars?
ReplyDeleteActually whole apartment buildings have been built out of containers, and there's a house in Brookside that's a container house.
ReplyDeleteSome of you people must have pretty big beds because you seem to spend a lot of time under them.
I'd like to hear more about this. Is this a spec house? Is the builder building it for himself? How much is he looking for, etc.
Do something for the people that are already living in containers.
ReplyDeleteFuck you backwoods ass hats. I'm building my artsy fartsy house out of egg cartons and elephant shit. The only problem is that the interior smells like someone shit a goose.
ReplyDeleteOnce the niggers move in the containers will be ruined anyway.
ReplyDeleteI know this is supposed to be neat and "urban" but it just seems sad.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually pretty cool. I would personally want to have it in the country
ReplyDeleteBetter construction quality than 80% of suburban McMansions
ReplyDeleteHere is the reality numbnuts. NOBODY WANTS TO LEND YOU MONEY BECAUSE YOU WANT TO LIVE IN A SHIPPING CONTAINER! BY THE TIME YOU GET YOUR SHIPPING CONTAINERS, THEY ARE READY TO BE JUNKED! NOBODY WANTS TO INVEST IN A JUNK HOUSE! Now that I am through shouting (which I find necessary get the attention of those who are not paying attention, dense, stupid or deafened by their own hipness), I am none the less amazed by people who claim to be so aware and with it, that they ignore the most obvious objections to their low value schemes. If nobody values your low rent cheap ass bright idea, why would they lend you money?
ReplyDeleteGreat comments here, it shows the spectrum of the top one percent afraid of change, and the rest who never got a full education, like posters 5:32,6:17,and for sure 7:42, see you morons dont even get it, real estate is taxed by the square footage of your home,(if you rent you shouldn't have even commented) government wants you to have more than 1000 sq if you OWN your home, the government isnt into alternative living space, and wont allow any single family dwelling less than 1000 sq ft in most municipalities (hidden out of site through building codes) because any square footage less than that isnt worth their taxation. The tiny home movement is sweeping the country, many build that home on a trailer to get around bureaucracy,if you can jump out of the corrupt city, there are many opportunities to live more simple in counties around the country who dont have building codes. In the end its not about being a responsible American who realizes they dont need 2000 sq feet of living space, its all about regulation so the government can get your money.
ReplyDelete6:01 you wont be taxed to death, you cant live in a tiny home here unless you live in a apartment.
ReplyDelete3:00 TRUE!! but if you rent, a good portion of your rent is so your landlord can pay his taxation!
ReplyDelete2:57, Responsible American? We dont have that in this country anymore, every time I buy gas, I wonder what country I am in!!!!
ReplyDeleteResponsible American? That leaves Byron out of the discussion.
ReplyDeleteThere's my stalker!
ReplyDeleteI wondered where you were, bitch.
When you think of me at 4:30 in the morning are you masturbating?
Being called a fag for fifty years because I wear glasses has made me feel a bit disenfranchised. Duh.
I have absolutely no intention of being a responsible American. Fuck you assholes.
^^^^^It wasn't because you wear glasses, and you're certainly successful in not being responsible.
ReplyDeleteI think a container house for Byron is very fitting. And I would like seeing my tax dollars pay for it, just as long as it says Deffenbaugh on the side of it.
ReplyDeleteWill this container home be furnished by Crate and Barrel?
