Kansas City Westport Gusto Lounge Bar Owner Stays Winning $8 MILLION Defamation Lawsuit Against Former Partners For Article After Allegations Published In The Pitch

Kansas City bar fights always turn out badly . . . Especially when they're among the owners . . .

The latest example in a story that involved quite a bit of Internets chatter and the sordid deets of what some say was a modern day speakeasy in Midtown Kansas City:

KC Biz Journal: Bar owner wins $8M verdict in defamation, ownership dispute

In a report touting vindication, the ward included:

$4.8 million related to Vitti's wrongful eviction from the Gusto Lounge, compensating him for his 80 percent stake in the company's profits

$250,000 for physical and mental suffering resulting from the wrongful eviction

$1 million for slander related to false and damaging verbal statements made in 2012 to various members of the community

$2 million for slander and libel related to false and damaging comments published in articles by The Pitch

Last call . . .

"All of the judgments were rendered against Don Saxton and two companies he majority owns called 504 Westport LLC and 504 Tavern LLC, which controlled the lease and liquor license for the property Vitti and his co-owner used for the operation of The Gusto Lounge."

Meanwhile, the hype about the so-called "reassurance" of Westport proves false with a great many rapes, riots, shootings and biz beefs basically eating away any kind of profit.

  1. The Pitch published allegations for this guy but mostly supports the discrimination and politics that goes on East of Troost? Racist much?

  2. Hearne Christopher and the type of stories and authors he allows on his site should be worried about stuff like this. Glazer pulled this same crap with Johhny Dares and stiffed many companies in Kansas City of money owed while hiding behind his mothers apron and name. The building is cursed and look who did that before running off as well.

  6. KCC? Nobody reads that shit blog, it's just spam and geezer posts. I think I'll stick with twitter and TKC to crack my shit up.

As for Gusto, bar business is tough. It's best not to have partners, most people just end up in court.
