Something to think about for Sunday afternoon and alternative suggestion in the ongoing quest to honor a former Mayor with a questionable legacy . . .
CHECK THIS SPECIAL COMMENT FROM A KICK-ASS TKC READER REGARDING THE LEGACY OF KANSAS CITY'S FIRST LADY MAYOR!!!
Here's the word:
"You have been blogging about the effort that Mayor Sly "Big Bowtie" James and others have been putting in so that the government can name something after Kay Barnes.
"There is a steel plate/giant pothole near Brookside Blvd and 47th Street. In honor of her commitment to deferred maintenance why don't they name that pothole after her? If that doesn't work, I'm sure there is a similar giant pothole near the Power and Light District. And if that doesn't fly, I suggest they rename the Power and Light District after her... Kay Barnes $15 Million Dollar A Year Folly District."
And so, it seems that nobody really questions that former Mayor Kay has shaped the future of Kansas City and deserves to be remembered . . . The only debate is the best way for the voting public to regard her contribution which devoted hundreds of millions to downtown whilst services and infrastructure was neglected throughout most other neighborhoods.
Developing . . .
Or we could just save the money and skip the statue.
ReplyDeletePeople who actually know any FACTS about Barnes' terms know she saved the downtown--a blighted, vacant mess. Now, it defines KC. We should thank her somehow--what's Sly's idea?
ReplyDeleteHow about, " The Kay Barnes Non Existant NBA Team Locker Room", at Sprint Center?
ReplyDeleteYes I remember the cunt everytime I pay my taxes that seem to benefit everyone but the people who really live in this town.
ReplyDeleteThe Kay Barnes Tea Room @ Union Station. Closed to the public.
ReplyDeleteWhile not a favorite mayor, there is one glaring common problem with Power and Light, and Sprint Center. This problem directly affects the viability of these venues.
ReplyDeleteNiggers. Niggers have made P&L a war zone. Only hayseeds from Nebraska, Oklahoma and Iowa will frequent P&L. Even these rubes are getting wise.
Now Sprint Center is under attack. A few more nigger basketball events and it will be a war zone.
Nope, Kay Barnes wasn't the best mayor by any stretch but the nigger is the major cause of people not supporting P&L and the Sprint Center.
Accountability has been reduced to a meaningless buzzword spewed by the chattering class.
ReplyDeleteYour monument will live forever Tony.
ReplyDeleteBut, we got a free choo choo!
ReplyDeleteKays living the good life in Briarcliff with all her friends. She still driving the Benz?
ReplyDeleteShe's running for CONgress still?
ReplyDeleteDowntown defines KC.
ReplyDeleteLMFAO!
Yes no doubt she screwed Kansas City over a good one.
ReplyDeleteI came back from KCI with relatives and while driving over the bridge next to River Market my uncle said is that your ghetto?
ReplyDeleteA monument to Kay Van Dyke is a terrible idea.
ReplyDeleteWho in their right mind honors a shopper?
No, this idea won't fly. A better idea is the Funkhouser Forum at Union Station.
Name Toni Bones Trailer park after her.
ReplyDeleteToni's legacy is etched in stone
ReplyDeleteGood to hear Toni got that urban forest stopped over on 23rd street
ReplyDeleteWe already have a monument to Kay Barnes, his name is Sly James and he's the Mayor
ReplyDeleteThere's no such intersection as Brookside BLVD and 47th street you goofy assed suburban rube. Go back to your Clay county McSprawlsville and enjoy a nice meal at the Olive Garden, you hillbilly fuck.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there actually is. It's by the fountain. I know you were trying to show us how smart you are, but let me take a moment to show your the error of your ways. Hopefully next time you'll think before you speak since I'm sure you've shamed your family plenty with a smartass mouth like that.
ReplyDelete47th becomes Cleaver II east of main. West of main it's 47th. Main becomes Brookside south of 47th. North of 47th it's Main. You could say 47th and Main, Main and Cleaver II, 47th and Brookside, Cleaver II and Brookside. They all land on the same spot.
Check a map next time.
Finally the cab drivers are speaking up
ReplyDeletePiss and moan about a Mayor that has been out of office for almost 6 years.
ReplyDeleteOnly on TKC.

ReplyDeleteUsually when you talk about a contribution you praise the contributor for giving you or your cause something of value that you can take to the bank. Since we will be paying out of our collective pockets for Kay Barnes' contributions for decades to come, I agree that there is nothing she did that deserves any lasting memorial. That the debts she ran up will be with us for decades is more than enough to remember her.
ReplyDeleteNot "Big Bowtie" Sly is deservedly tagged as the "Obese Bowtie."
ReplyDelete11:22: You have to give trolley boy some leeway. He never gets south of 31st St., the current "official" southern boundary of "downtown," and he tends to tie one on after noon (and it's always noon somewhere in the world), hence the vehemence of his comments, and, since when he gets stoned it makes everyone else stupid, he sees no need to check his facts before going off on a tangent.
