Ann Harrison was 15-years-old when she was kidnapped, brutally beaten, repeatedly raped, thrown in the trunk of a car and then stabbed to death.
The aftermath of her tragic homicide continues to resonate more than 20 years after her homicide.
The crime inflicted upon Ms. Harrison spanned from Raytown to South Kansas City and in the aftermath of that tragic incident the demographics of those neighborhood dramatically changed . . .
What nobody in Kansas City likes to talk about is that the Ann Harrison murder was the flash point for the greatest instance of white flight in Kansas City following the legal defeat of segregation. Now, South Kansas City is one of the many hotspots for violence and the Ruskin neighborhood in the vicinity of where Ms. Harrison's body was found is sort of a suburban slum that hosts constant violence punctuated by the killing of Angel Hooper last year.
Now . . .
Last year in Missouri killed Michael Taylor who most believe incited the incident and the only one of the pair who raped Ann Harrison.
Another aspect of the case most Kansas City newsies forget . . . There was a notable racial controversy during the proceedings of the two suspects and even mention of the use of the N-word by court officials.
Finally, Missouri seems to have endured questions over lethal injection and the drugs supplied to carry out state sanctioned killing but some aspects of that controversy have yet to be completely settled.
The most recent headlines regarding the topic today:
KMBC: The Missouri Supreme Court has denied the latest legal challenges from a man scheduled to be executed Tuesday for raping and killing a 15-year-old Kansas City girl in 1989.
KSHB: Execution set for Roderick Nunley who raped, killed 15-year-old girl in Kansas City
Remember that Fox4 reported the basics of this one back in July: Execution date set for Kansas City man convicted in 1989 rape, murder of girl
Forgiveness Foundation: According to family members, Roderick had a troubled childhood. Roderick was also known to make poor decisions when using cocaine.
More from this AP report: "The court also rejected his request for a writ of habeas corpus, which allows prisoners to challenge their convictions on constitutional grounds."
And so, while many watching this case over the past 20+ years might view the execution as a conclusion of the tragic crime . . . It's worth considering that the legacy of violence, murder and brutality will continue to impact Kansas City even after that last person involved in this incident is gone.
Developing . . .
I think your point about white flight has more factors than just this killing but it's true that Raytown was really a different place after this murder.
ReplyDeleteYou also need to mention that Ann Harrison was just waiting for the bus to school when she was kidnapped and murdered.
The details of this case are DISTURBING.....this is the kind of stuff that gives people nightmares. Please just let this case be over with. He did it.
ReplyDeleteI mean there have been other senseless crimes in that area. However, justice is pretty swift in the majority of those cases.
This one just keeps going, and in the meantime the tax payers foot the bill to feed and house animals.
ReplyDeleteLong over due!!
its about time after all these years finally ann gets her dues paid back im sorry it took 20 years to do so
ReplyDeleteThank God, another dead nigger.
ReplyDeleteI doubt a day has passed since the murder when Ann's parents havent wondered about her ordeal. I imagine they often find themselves asking what Ann's life would be like today, had it not been snatched away by a couple of feral animals. A high School graduation, college, career, a husband, grandchildren, all of the could of and should of been that will never be. Fuck Nunley and Taylor, their executions should have taken place a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteIf y'all need any assistance putting this somebitch out of his misery please let me know.
ReplyDeleteYou do have to wonder about the timing of this. It looks like they put more precision into ending this case with Nunley than they did killing Taylor. At least somebody in Missouri is trying to be strategic.
ReplyDeleteeven now I'm sure there will be people who claim that that brutal killer should be spared.
ReplyDeleteObama lauds Nunley as a
ReplyDelete"True hero in the Democrat War on Whites"
Forward.
Long, long overdue! Time to send this asshat to HELL!
ReplyDeleteAnyone wonder how often the victims of Mark Smith sit and think about the things he did to them. About how their lives would be different if not for him. Sure convict, play your I have feelings bullshit I don't buy it and many more don't either.
ReplyDeleteNow let's execute all the niggers who are free.

He had a troubled childhood. Well so did lots of other people who have not murdered anyone. He was known to make poor decisions while using cocaine. His first poor decision was to use cocaine. His next poor decision was to continue using it, even knowing that he made poor decisions while high. This piece of crap has lived a lot longer inside than he would have outside. Whack the scum.
ReplyDeleteWay over due !!!!! Please let me slowly... turn the valve.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to insert the needle. It would probably take several times, to get it right.
ReplyDeleteMark Smith, owns, owns, owns his life.
ReplyDeleteTakes responsibility and again, OWNS his life.
I am a fan and waiting for his next opinion, in the comments or, on his website.
The guy cuts the ice, not only from his experience in prison, but, from his Studs Terkel, first person anecdotal stories, which, fly in the face of the "Moral Relatvism" bullshit we have all had forced down our throats for 500 years.
In general, it gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer and we should dress accordingly.
If, in your life, your neighborhood, your city, there is a preponderance of black people, and you are white, you may get killed, raped ,or, assaulted at a exponentially higher rate that if you lived with white people around you.
Black people have been taught to hate white people and the evidence, is in you face.
Hollywood, politicians, academe, schools, the entire country, the media, HATES, HATES HATES WHITES and makes money on the lie.
Jamie Foxx can go on SNL an talk about "killing white people" and get a standing ovation, from WHITE PEOPLE!!
Oprah can wish for the death of "old White People" on CNN and no one says a fucking thing.
I am dead.
It is a footnote in a war, a low level civil war, that white people, scum sucking cowards that they are, are too, too, afraid to fight, too, too afraid to face.
I am dead.
WHITE BOYS!! Amerika hates you, hates your family, hates your history and wants, with all their black fucking hearts to see you dead.
Fuck Oprah and fuck the new AmeriKa.
In his defense, he did go get more lube when they were raping the little girl. I remember the last time when they were going to execute this piece of trash. Barb Shelley wrote a piece about how horrible it would be to execute him. What I can't understand is how she could type the article when it was so clear that she was fingering her cunt and wishing that she could be taking Roderics dick? Can anybody explain this?
ReplyDeleteRock on Mark Smith!
ReplyDeleteMr. Tony,
ReplyDeleteSome people need to be killed. This killer is in that category.
Atheists who have had the political power to do so have killed MILLIONS.
ReplyDeleteMark Smith is another fucking asshole who fucked people and will fuck you again if given the chance. He's a con and will always be a con and if you people want think different then you're the same fucks who think killers shouldn't be killed for their crimes either. Mark Smith hasn't repented from a single fucking bad thing he has done. You people who think he is so great make me want to puke all your face and tits if you have them.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, to the tune of Hi Neighbor: Bye NIGGER, bye NIGGER...
ReplyDeleteNo one has the right to say that this person, or any other person, should die. That is the problem, not the solution.
ReplyDeleteThis murder does not avenge Ann ...
I have that right, so does everyone else. The legislature not only has the right to say it but the authority to command it. The executive has the right and duty to make it happen. The execution does not avenge Ann, because it will happen so long after her brutal murder. Justice should be swift and sure.
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/QzVFugFcUto
ReplyDeleteWhat took so long? The crime happened in 1989 and it's 2015?
ReplyDeleteThis guy should of been executed in 1991. 2015????
Just drag his ass out and put a gun too his head.
Should have hung him 10 minutes after they caught him! Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteu rgetting off to easy mr nunley
ReplyDeletei pray a slow agonizinghorrible death for you mr nunleya death similar to the one you gave poor ann you remember her dont you you remember how you made her suffer you are the only one alive that knows for sure i pray you suffer all the pain you have caused i never met ann but i have(and will) shed countless tears for her i can only imagine the horror but you can .remember her suffering when you walk your final walk remember as you take your final breath remember the suffering you have caused to all of your victims not just Ann but to the countless others and you will know you are getting off to fucking easy
ReplyDeleteHey Byron: Fuck you. In the ass, the way you like it. The problem when you mix liberal fascism with excessive stoooopid--as they did in your case--is that you get self-important cockbites--like you--telling others what "rights" they have regarding their speech.
ReplyDeleteI hope when you get yours, at the hands of one of the killers you advocate for, that he rams a copy of the first amendment up your ass before he fills you with his spooge.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good start...but let's do it Texas Style...Death in the Fast Lane....
780 thousand dollars later! That's what it cost to house this disgrace of a man! As a hardworking taxpayer--I want a refund. All these years alive. It's about time!
