Rain last night was typical for the Midwest during Springtime but Kansas City streets endured flooding danger and a great deal of property damage thanks to decades of deferred maintenance.
Let's make it plain:
WHILST KANSAS CITY IS BUILDING TOY TRAINS, DOWNTOWN HOTELS AND PLANNING NEW AIRPORTS WE DON'T NEED . . . A TYPICAL SPRING RAIN FLOODS MIDTOWN STREETS!!!
KMBC: A line of storms swept through the Kansas City metro late Saturday night into Sunday morning and caused flash flooding in many areas.
And now the question . . .
Who should we blame for this hot mess of civic neglect, horrid mismanagement and dereliction of duty???
Look no further than the "dictator" of Kansas City politics.
MAYOR SLY JAMES RIGHTFULLY DESERVES BLAME FOR HORRIBLE CITY SERVICES AND DANGEROUS KANSAS CITY INFRASTRUCTURE DISREPAIR!!!
His supporters are all paid consultants and his constituency is little more than an army of lawyers and big biz with their hands out looking for corporate welfare.
Sadly, the only answer to this is to keep raising taxes on po'folk and dwindling middle-class while the Mayor's bosses live safely out of town.
The Mayor isn't just guilty of mismanagement, he's also helping to destroy local Democracy with his bully style of win-at-all-costs politics that's pushing Kansas City one step closer to bankruptcy and repeating the mistakes of Detroit every day.

In my town, city crews were out the other day, checking and clearing ever storm drain on every street. There was zero flooding here last night.
ReplyDeleteBut then I live in a little hick town in despicable Johnson County, not in the ludicrously nicknamed Paris of the Plains, which turns into an open sewer with every rain storm.
Same here in west Dotte -- 28 year hood -- cleared our streets twice since March -- and glad to have the overtime payroll budgeted. Now if Warren would stop with the tax tantrums.....

@919 Same spot for nearly a hundred years gushes near the golf course at KCC -- it is a run off to massive storm drain 3 blocks away, by design.
DeleteAlso, seeping moist block basement walls in Mission Hills (first built mansions prior poured foundations more common) occurr at downpour. The waterproofing and complete teardowns have saved some.
