CELEBRATE THE TONY'S KANSAS CITY BLOG COUNCIL PRIMARY INTERVIEWS!!!

The polls are open, most of the people in this town WILL NOT be voting but here's a bit of information for those brave souls who do cast their ballot.

More than any other news outlet in Kansas City . . . We have provided more relevant info about the candidates running for city council.

Our Internets Election Guide provided names and faces and web addresses earlier this month.

Throughout the season our NEW CITY COUNCIL LABEL has been a convenient way to follow all the top stories related to the council contenders.

And our interview series was completed long before people started voting today . . .

THANKS TO OUR BLOG COMMUNITY WE WERE ABLE TO CONDUCT 21 IN-DEPTH INTERVIEWS WITH CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES AND CONTRIBUTE MORE PUBLIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE CONTENDERS ON THE RECORD THAN ANYBODY ELSE IN KANSAS CITY!!!

We talked to strong women contenders in the 1st District

We took part in a civil but spirited debate in the 2nd District

TKC noted the challenges and dissatisfaction with the incumbent in the 3rd In-District race

The 3rd At-Large also presented the challenge of representing the entire city from an urban core perspective

All of the contenders from the 4th shared their unique take on Kansas City's future . . .

5th District candidates hoped to move past the drama of last term

5th District At-Large contenders simply wanted to talk about issues rather than petty political maneuvers

And the challengers in the 6th both have informed perspectives on the issues that impact their community.

That was the voter information part of the project . . . Now . . .

Here's a montage that highlights some of my favorite moments talking to the candidates and some of their more powerful words presented in typical hyperbolic and AWESOME TKC style:

This was fun to make . . . Hopefully, one more surprise coming up . . .

  1. Cute.

    I like your graphic.

  2. Thanks for doing this, Tony. Prior to viewing these, I thought the only candidate in the city worth voting for was Stalder. Now I may vote for three candidates.

Okay, that's way over the top. I'll probably vote for two of them.

  3. Theresa Garza Ruiz's name on the ballot irretrievably skews the election results in the 5th District At-Large by putting a false choice before voters.

Lawyer up candidates. This one is going to Court

  4. There's this guy in the first district - what's his name? Louie Wright? - you seem to have overlooked.

Where's his interview? Surely an important blogger cannot be overlooked!

Also I'm sure the candidates were thrilled with all the white supremacist comments.

    Nice touch!

  5. Calling Secretary Kander4/7/15, 9:39 AM

Throwing out a large number of TGR votes makes it very possible for the Williams write-in campaign to qualify as one of the two general election candidates. I would say this is one fucked up election now.

  6. Wow! Hadn't noticed till now that the Bloods and the Crips are both fielding a candidate in the first district race.

  7. I agree with 9:39. The election commissioners cannot just throw out votes for a person that they printed on the ballot and call the election results valid. It is probably going to court.

When it comes down to it, Theresa Garza Ruiz's blind ambition continues to fuck over this community.

  8. The Horrid End of Girl Power4/7/15, 10:44 AM

The Girl Power thing has passed over the Styx and become a flesh eating zombie. Garza is a prime example. So is Katheryn Shields.

  9. Great job, TKC. Much better than I expected. Very disappointed some of the incumbents chose not to be involved. Hopefully they reconsider before the general election. With such a low voter turnout it will be interesting to see how many of the candidates that took part of this make it through to the general election.

You Goddamn idiot at 10:50 Stalder is running city wide not in district. If you live anywhere in the city you can vote for him. You fucking stupid sack of shit.

  13. 10:55, well then I will vote for Stadler when I hit the polls after work. Geesh, sorry.

  15. 1143 as opposed to making up your mind on the number of lawn signs or mailers a candidate has? where is information available to better decide? hurry i'm voting at 430 and i want to be informed.

  17. I'll be interested in seeing vote totals. Tkc questionnaire was worth 5 votes in my household. My in-laws who live with us my wife me and our child. We all vote the same and didn't vote for anyone who didn't do an interview.
