Radio talkers recently examined a longstanding civic tactic that has held back the progress of this city.
Some call it etiquette while others just refer to it as "Kansas City Nice" which is a clunky if apt euphemism.
Here's the recent link to a conversation on the topic: What Are The Key Characteristics Of 'Kansas City Nice'?
Don't worry, the so-called experts didn't reach a conclusion and they mostly talked around the problem in an attempt to gain favor by seeming agreeable and stealthily advancing their personal agendas . . . Which is pretty much the textbook definition of this rhetorical tactic that's one of many challenges confronting this town . . . Other than all of the outright killing on local streets.

This is bullshit. People in the Twin Cities talk about Minnesota Nice. This "wherever nice" formulation is a microagression against white people. We have manners that mean that we are reserved in public. You never see a white person break up in public like you do when the TV news shows a ghetto mother coming upon a shooting and she finds out its one of her issue. (note to self, why do they never show the Father?) Anyway, they might as well just call it middle class white person nice.
ReplyDeleteMost KC people are usually nice, but be prepared to be stabbed in the back at moments notice at the same time.
ReplyDeleteSaying you went to a local high school or your from here helps break the ice, if you don't mind lying.
Good luck!
Yeah, Kansas City people are nice.
ReplyDeleteUnless you are black, Latino, gay or Jewish.
