TKC NOTE: We won't get in the way of this one but after a temporary appointment, here are the front runners according to an AWESOME Missouri Insider:
Short list for Auditor replacement:
It almost feels wrong to be talking about this already, but we are kidding ourselves if we don't think that this is THE hot topic among politicos in Missouri. Here's a short list of a few of the possible replacements that Gov. Nixon, we hear, will be taking a hard look at to fill the spot (including our rankings):
1. Tishaura Jones, Treasurer of the City of St Louis. Would be the first African American to hold a state-wide office and would become a major rising star in the party. Loyal to Nixon, and starts to heal some of the racial rift Jay currently has in St Louis. (A+ candidate).
2. Kelvin Simmons, the only high ranking African American from Jay's administration. Same as above, but too a lesser extent. (B+ candidate).
3. Kiki Curls, State Senator. Her baggage surrounding gifts from lobbyists makes it impossible for her to win a general election, but being African American and willing to do the job counts in todays environment. (C).
4. Jean Baker, Jackson County Prosecutor. Jean is seen as a self-promoter first and foremost, and not a team player. Not sure she makes the final cut. (C-)
5. Mike Sanders, Jackson County Executive. Proven commodity after his successful stint as state party chair. We hear could have been the guy, but is a non-starter as he has already said he will not take the job even if its offered by Jay. (DQ ed)
6. Charlie Dooley, former St Louis County Executive. Just lost his election to Stanger, but has proven his loyalty to Jay. Only makes it if no one else is on the board. (D)
