Outrage over Kansas City's busted 2015 budget has set in throughout the urban core.
Remember that our blog community brought word of an important document circulating throughout the inner city outlining budget inequities impacting the working poor, minorities and middle-class.
Today . . .
WE'VE GOT FIRST WORD A POLITICAL SHOUTING MATCH AT THE FINAL BUDGET MEETING AMID FRUSTRATION WITH WITH THE MAYOR'S PRIORITIES FOCUSING ON DEVELOPMENT OVER COMMUNITY INTERESTS AND HIS HARDLINE BARGAINING TACTICS!!!
Here's the message sent our way:
"Slap fight at City budget hearing. Mayor told "f#ck you - you dictator, bully. The insult was hurled amid pointed questions from 3rd District Candidate Rachel Riley."
Update: It gets worse . . . THE MAYOR RESPONDED TO CRITICISM BY CALLING PEOPLE "LIARS" AND WAS BOOED BY THE CROWD!!!
So many public forums during this election season have been exercises in politeness and organizers have been careful to thoroughly screen any questions from the public. Today, looking down the barrel of serious cuts for neighborhoods and city services, the rage of engaged residents finally boiled over and public confrontation was inevitable.
Developing . . .
Somebody finally called out Sly for being a puppet of the developers.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Rachel!
ReplyDeleteTwitter accounts should light up with the hashtag #fuckyoukcMayor
ReplyDeleteI like it!
classy! just the kind of professional representation you'd want!!!
ReplyDeleteEverything doesn't have to be classy. Sometimes you need to roll up your sleeves and slug it out the old fashioned way.
ReplyDeleteMayor told "f#ck you - you dictator, bully
ReplyDeleteLove it
You don't deal with James and his crew of grifters and fraudsters by being classy.
ReplyDeleteYou got to fight these bastards.
"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
ReplyDelete-----KC "Network" of Citizens
Can't wait to hear or read the local lame stream media spin on this one.
ReplyDeleteNot voting for Slie James. I'd rather risk starting over fresh then continuing to deal with the damage this guy is doing.
ReplyDeleteHope someone was able to record this.
ReplyDeleteHope this gets soundbites from all of those media outlets outside of Kansas City. Somebody should sunshine request the video footage. Everybody hates this Mayor. We need leaders willing to stand up to him... and for God's sake vote for anybody except him. Write in a candidate if you have to.
ReplyDeleteDid they call for Troy to be FIRED?
ReplyDeleteThey called for Jermaine Reed to be fired... and he will be. Goodbye Jermaine!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see people at last standing up and tell Sly to shove it. Time to shove him and Troy boy out the door.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately if the choice is simply between subsidizing every bozo with a pulse who wants to build something "along the streetcar line" and throwing money into thin air on the east side, everyone throughout KCMO loses in the end.
ReplyDeleteHow about some serious long-term planning for infrastructure maintenance and repair, much more interest and oversight of the water department, reining in all the "consultants" and contractors, and focusing on actual city services that mean something to the people who live here?
Of course to do that you'd need to have council candidates who are actually interested in city government and not just in getting "their fair share".
What a concept!
Easy on the hooch 6:15, you are becoming delusional.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they can budget some money for the damn streets. This shit-ass snow fell today and KC streets sucked! WTF?!
ReplyDelete“Don't you know? Nearly every election since the beginning of time has been between some douche and some turd.”
ReplyDeleteThey had the streetcar lines plowed and cleared and construction humming along 7:17.
ReplyDeleteI'm blown away by all of the great 3rd District candidates. They all seem to have an understanding of the real problems facing this city that are going unanswered. It's frustrating when you're told that there's no money for x, y, or z in your 3rd or 5th District neighborhood when you see how much money or tax incentives are given away in other parts of the city.
ReplyDeleteBryan that is true. The problem is those living in those districts are more about complaining than they are about voting. And of the ones that vote how many find out about the candidate beforehand? Another thing...people need to stop voting a straight P.A.C. ticket. Just because the P.A.C. endorsed them doesn't mean they're qualified. All the candidates aren't good for the job
DeleteNot the fist time Sly's had his ass handed to him recently.
ReplyDeleteMayor Sly James,
ReplyDelete"F#ck you - you dictator, bully, and your also a pig.
Throw us some bread you rich bitch."
Ms. Jessica Logsdon
And he'll get it handed to him again. People are tired of his bullshit.
ReplyDeleteIf you call what happened today a shouting match, you should put down the crack pipe.
ReplyDeleteTony's needs drama and you all just take the bait. Get out and attend before your comment.
Tell us about it 7:44. All ears.
ReplyDeleteYes 7:44 we know the taxpayers are holding back this "great city" and all. Cindy Circo said so.
ReplyDeleteWho's been snatching the taxpayer loot and handing it over to the Bosses before now?
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI agree with 5:42. Sunshine request the video footage, Tony. You put it up. It will go viral.
I'm confused. In Ms. Riely's LinkedIn profile it states she has a BA from UMKC (no mention as to in what field) conferred in 2010.
ReplyDeleteOn her online resume (that shows activity through at least 2011) the only education she shows is a Medical Certificate from the 'Kansas City Medical and Dental School' (whatever that is) from November 1985 (1 month course?).
Everyone connected with Kansas City is either a liar or an exaggerator...

Just saying...
@8:31pm. LOL. Thanks for the online investigative work. "Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please." Mark Twain
ReplyDeleteAnd when we checked Sly's resume it said he went to an Ivy League college and from speaking with him and his daily interactions with humans, he is severely lacking in social skills. You can lead him to water but you can't make him drink...just like a jackass.
ReplyDelete@750, typical city meeting. People bitching about a 3 inch document that nobody understands. 4 or 5 groans, but nothing to the level that constitutes booing or jeers.
ReplyDeleteNotice Tony references as a message send his way?
Bigfoot at 11.
@8:49 looks like the facts are there, if you check the information. I wouldn't trust her or anyone else downtown.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the mayor will not resort to Vladimir Putin "tactics" against his detractors.
ReplyDeleteThere's a political machine intact to take care of rivals and muckrakers.
ReplyDeleteI would have preferred fuck you you Fat Bowtie. More than that, I would like to see the aforementioned Fat Bowtie go down to Clay Chastain. Or go down to our favorite Blogger host... Tony Botello :)
ReplyDeleteRun Tony Run!!!! The mayors chair awaits and suits you!
Rachel, you rock :-)
ReplyDeleteThe entitled political class having a bar brawl at a funeral. The deceased loved one is Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteI didn't vote for Sly and Reed is nothing more than a puppet who's been robbing his district because he's a sell out. The current city council members care nothing about this city, but they care about lining their pockets with cash given from those holding the puppet strings. The mayor is a smug bastard and a bully.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the POITICAL clout east of Troost?
ReplyDeleteYou used to be able to count on, at least, one civil rights foundation and a few churches to...
1) SPEAK OUT with reliable information
2) GET THE VOTE OUT.
Now, organization appears limited to just supplying poll workers for the all-too-few voters east of Troost.
Where are the
Young,
Talented,
Educated,
Black
leaders???
Only about 20% of Kansas City's registered voters bother to vote at the best of times. If any one district had a 50% turnout, they would run the show. Drive your neighbors to the polls and sweep the trash out.
ReplyDeleteFreedom could ruin Sly's election if they would just get out and work.
ReplyDeleteVoting is passive participation in politics. Concepts of leadership is antiquated making tools of the public.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame' Sly You have Never Walked the east side Neighborhoods 3rd district to see the Drug activity or the killings' the crime is right on the corners, Not Hard to find or See the daily crimes.
ReplyDeleteWe need Real Leaders that have a heart for our community, the sad,sad way we run this town...Should start with good leadership and professionals that feel and have experienced the neglect in sooooo many areas, not that Fake I care stuff* get out and make me know IT
I cant see the Light Sly?????
Red.......
Put God in your purpose
