Good old Southern Baptist Kansas.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry - can't refer to religion. Someone might off themselves and it will be all my fault.
ReplyDeleteNow easy folks this might be for the good of the children. The bill just might really have books you don't want your kids to see.
ReplyDeleteOk for you idiots who never read the stories there is two sides to this bill. The bill not only protects the children but the teachers as well. It’s illegal for a person to show children pornography and that parents should be able to expect that same protection when kids are at school. But the bill is necessary to ensure kids are protected from pornography at school and that teachers would not be prosecuted for teaching works of literary or scientific value.
ReplyDeleteThe only hard issue here is who decides what is and isn't unsuited for kids to see. I was in Twin Peaks with some friends a few days ago for lunch and was shocked at the number of kids whose parents had brought them there to eat. While I don't think Twin Peaks is a inappropriate place to be for adults, I just don't think it's an appropriate place for children under the age of 16. So what is and isn't porn or distasteful is a broad area open for discussion.
For a political party that constantly whines about the "nanny state", the Republicans sure do like to tell everyone what is good for them and what isn't.
ReplyDeleteConsidering that the "holier than thou" knuckle-draggers keep re-electing these morons, this censorship bullshit is to be expected.
I can think of some teachers that belong in prison.
ReplyDeleteThe worst thing about Twin Peaks is that it wasn't the David Lynch themed establishment I had hoped it would be.
ReplyDeleteNot ONE dancing midget in front of a red velvet curtain!
Things were sure a when us guys were getting molested by our cute teachers and no one cared.
ReplyDeleteThings were sure a lot more fun when us guys were getting molested by our cute teachers and no one cared.
ReplyDeleteHow many teachers in Kansas are showing pornograpny to students? (None.)
ReplyDeleteIf it's already illegal to show pornorgraphy to children, what's the point of passing this law? Any teacher showing pornography to children already can be prosecuted just like anyone else doing it, right?
Kansas already has a hard time recruiting teachers because it's such a poorly paying and socially backward state. This is going to make it even harder.
If Toni Morrison is a pornographer by Kansas standards, then no teacher will be safe from arbtrary and malicious prosecution. This will encourage teachers already here to flee to saner places.
