So, here's the artsy Kansas City deal with all of those Downtown flickering lights that a few of you have noticed.

It's "creative class" gimmick that probably represents tens of thousands of dollars in grant money wasted invested.

“Message Matters” is a site-specific light installation that transforms the Mid-America Arts Alliance and downtown Kansas City into a message of love. The work features 100 lights installed in 8 key window locations throughout downtown Kansas City. These simple lights fade in and out sending a singular Morse code message. The message being sent by the lights is “Luv U”. Mid-America Arts Alliance at 2018 Baltimore Avenue is the center of the installation serving with Jamie Burmeister as the facilitator of the project. Other participating locations include:

Kansas City, Missouri, City Hall, 414 E. 12th Street
Kansas City, Missouri, Public Library-Central Branch, 14 W. 10th Street
Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center, 2345 McGee Street

Meers Advertising, 1811 Walnut Street
Charlotte Street Foundation/Paragraph Gallery, 23 E. 12th Street

The intent of “Message Matters” is to send a positive message of love throughout downtown Kansas City.
