Inspired By Selma: Kansas City Congressman Cleaver Advocates New Voting Rights Act

In this latest newsletter, Kansas City Congressman Cleaver shares his inspiration from the movie Selma and then informs his constituents on the latest threat to equal voting.

Quote:

"You may not believe this, but work on voting rights in Congress has always been bipartisan up until now. Congress has reauthorized the VRA in a bipartisan manner four times, most recently in 2006. In 2006, the House passed the VRA Reauthorization by an overwhelming vote of 390 to 33, and the Senate passed the bill by a unanimous vote of 98 to 0. We need a VRA for today. It is time for the House to act, and pass a revised, renewed, and strengthened Voting Rights Act. We must not and we will not tolerate any voting discrimination in our democracy."

  5. Congressman Carwash Offers Rinse And Wax Job To Innocent Students

    What did he get right?
Well, we assume that he knows his own family's ancestry, but the tale of his great-grandfather was designed to elicit sympathy and lull the reader into accepting his false message. He similarly uses the Civil Rights struggle, as depicted in a fictional movie, to score points in a non-fictional world. This would be analogous to me showing you a movie in which I was portrayed as the rightful supreme ruler of the world, prior to arguing my point that I should still be the world's master.

After stating that--"Our right to vote is a fundamental right vested to us by the United States Constitution."--and then later adding--"We must not and we will not tolerate any voting discrimination in our democracy. It is our responsibility to do everything in our power to act to ensure full fairness in voting practices."--he finds fault with the U.S. Supreme Court when writing--"the Supreme Court significantly weakened the VRA by invalidating a key section of the law. The justices explained their decision in part by saying that because of progress we don't need these voting rights and protections anymore."

So, on the one hand Congressman Carwash is calling for more government intervention and protection of certain groups, yet simultaneously denouncing the highest court in the land when they don't rule according to his whim! Sorry Congressman, you are NOT the ruler of our world. Hallelujah!!

And while we're discussing protection of voting rights, isn't it amusing that when Kansas Secretary of State Kobach attempts to prevent voting fraud by requiring residents to show identification (EGADS!!) the liberals go into epileptic spasms?

Finally, in closing, Congressman Carwash employs a propagandist trick when writing--"I will not insult the death and life of my great-grandpa.."--insinuating to the reader that to disagree with him is the equivalent of insulting his great-grandfather!

Now that's what you call a wax job!!

  6. The guy is such a piece of shit.

Voter fraud is for, the most part, illegal immigrants and organizations like ACORN who fuck white people up the ass, after shit like Obama Care gets passed.

    Fuck you Cleaver.

  7. For completely unimaginative people like Cleaver and the rest of the civil rights industrial complex whose very good livings depend on aggrievement and entitlement, it is and will always be 1963.
"We've come a long way, but we're not there yet".
Throw in Diuguid and others at the Star and round up all the hand-wringing do-gooders who would never speak a word about personal responsibility, working hard in school, civil behavior, and individual accomplishment, and you have the endless chorus that can see only blame and fault in others.
And regular folks who work hard to make something of themselves are regularly marginalized and even criticized.
And just drive around the east side and see all the success.
    Shameful.

  8. How can anyone talk about voting rights when in KCMO grifter organizations like Freedom Inc. gives a handful of people opportunities to shake candidates and issues groups down based on the notion that residents of the east side are too stupid to be able to decide for themselves who to vote for without being handed a card with the "right" names on it?
Can anything be more demeaning of the very people who these groups talk about try to help?

  9. "We won't tolerate voting discrimination". But apparently we WILL tolerate voter fraud

  10. Has ANY serious legislation been drafted in Cleaver's office?
    ANY at all?
He could stay in DC forever and never leave so much as a fingerprint when he finally leaves.
    A total dud.

  11. Calculate the total number of residents in the 3rd District.
Then count the number of individuals qualified to register to vote. A smaller number.
Now count the number of actual registered voters. Smaller still.
Now how many voted in the last election? A very small number.
    Whys is that?
Not because of of anything to do with the Voting Rights Act.
80% of success is just showing up!

they'll run the movie and the 1950's and 60' into the ground and keep renewing yesteryear - its worked so well... white guilt, increased socialism but still no diversity. Same people bringing up the same issues expecting different results. crazy.
