Kansas City Dead Tree Media Harsh Times

Thanks to KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS for sending word of yet another Kansas City Dead Tree Media Institution falling up on harsh times during 2015 . . . Raised rent and unpaid bills are sinking this institution very much like the daily newspaper struggling to deliver papers in the cold that will mostly sit around unread.

Here's the word:

Kansas City Center for the Ink & Paper Arts

I am meeting with folks all this week to explore our options for preserving the studio in some form, before we are forced to dissolve it.

Anyone willing to help with this effort or with other possible/impossible options to suggest, may meet with us in the hours leading up to the dinner at 6 on Saturday.

I'll be there most of the day but we should begin meeting between 4 & 5 and then adjourn shortly before 6.

  1. Kansas City Center for the Ink & Paper Arts should just move into their Mom's house, or basement which ever is cheaper.

  2. You're confusing art with journalism, which would not be the first thing you've confused journalism with.

  3. Everyone here knows at least one person who has served in Afghanistan, Iraq or North Africa. Next time you see them ask them if the actions of police they saw in Ferguson would have been allowed in Afghanistan, Iraq, or North Africa. Most of them will tell you, No. These are men and women that were facing protests with IED's and a real threat of death and destruction. And if you consider a Moltov cocktail an IED, you should also thank that service member because you are fortunate to still have a mind peaceful enough to consider that an IED.

The choice is not one extreme or the other. The choice isn't anarchy or statism. what I saw in Ferguson (irregardless of who the F mike brown was) was not America, it wasn't even Iraq, I don't even know what to call it.

America does have a police state problem. And PLEASE ask a service member you know about N Africa, Iraq or Afghanistan, and see if in those WAR ZONES that kind of behavior would have been tolerated

  4. I'd like to attend the meeting pretending to be a tree hugging nut job just to see what crazy stuff they say.
