It's not too soon to start thinking about saving up cash to pay off Kansas City's most despised tax.
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY E-TAX WARNINGS AND PREP ALREADY ABOUND!!!
Here's the latest in a litany that will soon follow:

The earnings tax generates revenue that pays for a wide variety of basic city services used by all those who live and work in Kansas City, Missouri. In addition to helping fund basic city services such as repairing roads and weekly trash collection, the revenue from the earnings tax also pays for police officers, fire fighters, paramedics and ambulance services. Revenue from the earnings tax also helps fund snow removal, codes inspection, historic preservation and other city needs. The earnings tax generates approximately $220 million dollars annually

Bigger picture . . . Kansas City E-Tax passed OVERWHELMINGLY last time around but the new campaign is just around the corner as politicos and consultants prepare to convince voters that this town would shut down without the cash . . . Which probably isn't too much of an exaggeration for once.
Developing . . .
Going to be hard sell. If City Hall has millions to waste on streetcars and tax breaks for billionaire developers, they don't need more from me.
ReplyDeleteThe etax takes from those who are productive and redistributing to those who are not -- or who are not as successful. If success and productivity is to be punished, why bother? Perhaps it is time for those of us who make the money and pay the taxes to take it easy, live on less and let the looters of the world find their own way. For those of you who have never read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, the basic theme is that John Galt and his allies take actions that include withdrawing their talents, 'stopping the motor of the world', and leading the 'strikers' (those who refuse to be exploited) against the 'looters' (the exploiters, backed by the government).
ReplyDeletePerhaps the partisian politics we are dealing with now is really just a struggle between those of us who believe in productivity, personal responsibility, and keeping government interference to a minimum, and those who believe in the socialistic policies of taking from others, using the government as a watchdog, and rewarding those who overspend, underwork, or are just plain unproductive.
Obama talks about taking from those who are productive and redistributing to those who are not -- or who are not as successful. If success and productivity is to be punished, why bother? Perhaps it is time for those of us who make the money and pay the taxes to take it easy, live on less and let the looters of the world find their own way.
Oh I realize the complexity of city business and the myriad of souls it takes to make it function; however, where is there a simple listing of the salaries of ALL city employees....No, ALL city employees..That means committees, CID's, etc.?? This would have a lot of meaning for those of us that labor within the private sector and support these government paychecks...
ReplyDeleteNew York (AFP) - Oil services company Schlumberger Thursday said it was firing 9,000 workers due to plunging oil prices that have forced petroleum companies to cut drilling budgets.
ReplyDeleteMaybe these newly unemployed can move to CK for our abundance of nars, booze, and barbecue.
I stopped paying that etax bullshit when the city forgot the reasons they said they needed it. Fuck Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteBelieve KCMO gave millions of ETax Money to a Business here, instead of putting it back into the community like they were supposed to do, that was in the Pitch last summer !
ReplyDeleteAlso, for those that forgot or don't know, last time they held an election over this and it narrowly passed, within a week, they were laying off Fire Fighters and closing Fire houses, right after it passed and after they lied to everybody how it would fund emergency Personel and services .
So they flat out lied to everybody to get them to vote, then turned around and screwed everybody !
That's how KCMO acts and does Business, that's why they ar now failing and can't keep business in KCMO, unless you incluse Liquor stores, Payday loan shops, Tattoo shops , hardly the kinds of businesses that employ thousands of people or hundreds for that matter , its just so comical, the bullshit KCMO City officials pump up the asses of the Naïve puppets in KCMO !!
