SHOCK!!! FORMER KANSAS CITY JUDGE LEONARD HUGHES III JAILED X-MAS EVE!!!

Here's a holiday SHOCKER from one of the most politically prominent families in Kansas City and a one time political power broker:

KCTV5: Former judge Leonard Hughes jailed in domestic violence case

Deets:

"Former state and Kansas City municipal judge Leonard Hughes III spent Christmas Eve behind bars after he was accused of violating an order of protection.

Hughes went before a judge Wednesday morning. His bond was set at $25,000 and he was ordered not to have any contact with the victim in the case. Because of his status as a former judge, a special judge is expected to be appointed to oversee the case after the entire Jackson County bench recused themselves on Wednesday."

And there's where this story stops making sense . . .

KCTV5 noted: "At the time, Hughes said he was retiring to serve as head of Freedom Inc., the political organization in the black community that his parents, Leonard and Mamie Hughes, helped found. But he was battling personal issues, and apparently incorrectly thought he had the post lined up."

There's not one bit of fact checking in that passage . . . Freedom, Inc. now operates under a leadership board and they just had their elections so any executive position wouldn't be opening up for quite some time. The political club connection to this sordid story is a non sequitur at best.

However . . . The article gets back on track with some deets about the cause of arrest: "Court documents show that Hughes and his wife filed for divorce this summer. Online court records show that case is still pending, and that Hughes' attorney withdrew from the case earlier this month.

A woman sought an order of protection in September, but it wasn't clear Wednesday what the woman's relationship to Hughes is. KCTV5 was unable to reach the woman's attorney,"

Moreover . . .

"Hughes is accused of violating that order of protection on Dec. 20, Dec. 21 and Dec. 22 . . . Hughes returns to court on Jan. 7. Special judges had already been appointed to handle his divorce and the initial order of protection, which was a civil matter. The alleged violations are criminal charges and Hughes could face criminal penalties if found to have violated the order."

And so this holiday features harsh times for a Kansas City political dynasty family that continues to be embroiled in controversy.

Developing . . .

  11. The Black Male Monster12/25/14, 9:46 AM

The Black Male Monster... a product of nepotism, entitlement and grand standing. It's no surprise that this so-called Black elite found himself on the wrong side of law - for Christmas no less. The Black experience is marked by rhetoric of God-fearing hypocrisy. Just like everything else, the Black male monster maintains a standard of do as I say... not as I do. The rules are simply inapplicable to his position, whatever that it is. It changes with the seasons. The Black Male Monster... there's no relief in sight, not even on Christmas. God bless us all.

  14. He was an idiot in law school. Reportedly he flunked out and then played the card to get back in. I know many who went before Mr. Hughes (I refuse to call him Judge) and they needed to take some green to him to make their blues go away.
This sounds like a case of what goes around comes around. To quote Mr. Potter from It's a Wonderful Life, " Happy New Year! In jail!"

  15. The Joy of Christmas12/25/14, 10:50 AM

This is what I imagine Hughes said to his wife during their encounter:

    HUGHES TO WIFE:

    Ho, ho, ho...
    Open up the do[or]
I'm Santa Clause and guest what y'all, I've got something to show...
I came to bring some Christmas spirit.
I got a big bag now guess what's in it.
    Nothing for you, bitch.
I came to collect every stitch of my clothes.
So, Merry Christmas and ho, ho, ho

  23. Stupidity stands out in this case more than anything else. Because this guy is a judge. And, if he's that stupid and or warped or both, what does that say about the decisions he's made over the years. He was the strictest of all the K.C. municipal judges. He is in a unique situation to gain much needed humility through grace.
