CELEBRATE TKC QUICK HIT PIX FROM TONIGHT'S ARTS KC COUNCIL FORUM!!!

Tonight there was a strong kick-off for election season in Kansas City with an ArtsKC forum that attracted 22 council candidates.

Really, it was surprising how much interest this forum garnered . . . Here's a quick look at some of the notables in the crowd and a bit more about the event that we live tweeted.

ArtsKC Prez & CEO Harlan Brownlee here with Councilman Scott Wagner. Mr. Brownlee's effort to have the 1st forum of election season was a surprise success and definitely set the agenda for the early part of the election. Candidates should be thinking about all of the constituencies that they'll have to represent should they win office.

Terrence Nash is one of the few fiscal conservatives running this election election season. His 6th District effort should be one of the more interesting contests to watch.

Lance Conley is a candidate with a lot of momentum. He is running in the 5th District.

Alissia Canady is the fundraising leader in the 5th District by far and tonight it's clear this JaxCo Prosecutor has a very powerful and passionate public speaking advantage that will be hard to outmatch.

Jared Campbell has his work cut out for him with a 4th District at-large race against Councilman Jim Glover but he seems dedicated to compete in the contest to represent the entire city from the Midtown/Ward Parkway power base.

Fun shot of the night . . . Jane Reinhart is running in the 1st District and she's here with her former student Bryan Dial who is competing in the 3rd. The teacher student duo are now on equal ground attempting to oust City Hall incumbents.

Quinton Lucas here was one of his many young, powerful and rich lawyer friends who have helped to launch his rising star candidacy for the 3rd District At-Large.

It's always nice to talk with our friend Mr. Ken Bacchus who is currently a Jackson County Legislator and will also compete for the 5th District spot. Of all the candidates, Mr. Bacchus is the most seasoned and experienced politico who has withstood the test of time and remains a force to be reckoned with in Kansas City politics.

Finally . . . Our most important photo of the night . . . Take a look at the people who will really decide Kansas City elections:

Shirley Helzberg and attorney/start-up/arts patron power broker Mike Burke were in the crowd tonight carefully watching the politicos show their stuff. At the outset of this council race it's important to notice the movers and shakers in Kansas City making connections with the latest crop of elected officials.

Developing . . .

  11. Sly wins on the city council = That is the real verdict.

  12. Wrong again TKC, reader. Sly's slate is already set and these people are just fighting to fill in the blanks. There's no way that ANYONE will beat Sly. Who you got, Clay? Not going to happen my friend. Sly could rule City Hall for 5 terms if he wanted. That's just the way it is, get used to it.

  18. The problem with term limits is they are not permanent. Two terms, go away for life. Of course then they just move to the Jackson County legislature. Getting rid of a small time politician is harder than killing a vampire.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Brownlee is desperately trying to become relevant and keep his six figure cush job!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Tony endorses Crispy Rea for council.

Rea last 3 weeks. That's a KC power player.

You want porn or pervert info, TKC is your man

Want political endorsement, TKC is toxic
