Missouri Poll: Amendment 3 & Amendment 6 Headed Towards Defeat

Kansas City, MO – Remington Research Group has conducted an independent survey of all Missouri Constitutional Amendments.

Amendment 3, which provides new standards for teachers, is overwhelmingly headed towards defeat. 61% of voters oppose the proposed amendment, with only 27% of Missourians supporting it. 12% of voters are undecided.

“Amendment 3 has faced statewide opposition with little to no support,” said Titus Bond of Remington Research Group. "The campaign has been one sided and that is reflected in these numbers,” said Bond.

Another lopsided race has developed with Constitutional Amendment 6, which seeks to provide an early voting option in Missouri. 23% of voters support Amendment 6, 63% oppose, and 14% are undecided.

Amendment 2, which allows prior criminal records to be used at court when prosecuting sex crimes, appears to be headed towards victory. Supporters of Amendment 2 total 56% with opponents only numbering 23%. 21% of voters remain undecided.

The only Constitutional Amendment that appears to be close is Amendment 10. Constitutional Amendment 10 provides a legislative check on the Governor’s actions concerning the budget. The amendment requires the Governor to pay the public debt. 38% of Missourians support Amendment 10, 42% oppose the Amendment, with 20% still undecided.

“Amendment 10 is not a top of the mind issue for most voters,” said Titus Bond of Remington Research Group. "It’s an amendment with a lot of ballot language and it looks like voters do not yet have a clear preference,” said Bond.

Survey conducted October 31 – November 2, 2014. 1,368 likely General Election voters participated in the survey. Survey weighted to match average demographics of the past four General Elections. Margin of Error is +/-2.65% with a 95% level of confidence. Totals do not always equal 100% due to rounding.The survey was commissioned independent of any campaign or committee involved in the race.
